As it stands now they only have enough money for 2 or 3 of the 10 episodes to be high budget big battle type episodes. Like "Hardhome" and "Hold the door"

I think they are doing it so the last episodes will all be more high budget than stretching the budget to accommodate 10 episodes.

The Door wasn't a big battle type episode though, not on the scale of Hardhome.

I think HBO needs a show that can maintain the GoT audience after the show ends, and they need it to begin before GoT is over. Right now I don't think they have another big drama ready to do that, especially since True Detective is likely not coming back.

I never cared much for any of Arya's plot lines. They always seem to kinda end into nothingness... The whole Houdn plot line didn't go anywhere. Basically the problem with most storylines in GoT. But I guess that was always the point in GoT. To me it doesn't always mean compelling storytelling.

I liked Aryas because she as a character is intriguing. Her relationships to people like the hound and the faceless man are also interesting when compared to most other relationships (Jon and Sam for example).

On that note, my favorites, in order, are Ned, Jon, Jaime, Arya, and Oberyn. Do you guys have your own top five lists?

I still like the Daenarys storyline... that's the only one that actually seems to go anywhere. It's been standing still for over a season, but it's moving again.

I dunno... he kinda got stuck in Castle Black. And the whole White Walkers plot line has hardly progressed in five seasons. So yeah, no... I like Jon's character but his story has only now gotten some momentum now he joined by Sansa.

I'd argue even Sansa's story has had more real change than Dany's.

What I mean is that in the larger scope of things, Dany's had more promise. Despite the fact that her story came to a grinding halt in Mereen.

But when it comes to the "Game of Thrones" there's not been much playing around since the Red Wedding. Everyone was just doing their thing. Jon was just stuck up north, his story had not much direction. Dany's had in the first three seasons: she was going to go up against King's Landing and she had the dragons to do it.

Tyrian's story was really good until he joined Dany's boring rule in Mereen.

And Sansa was always victim... her life directed by others and she suffered whatever came her way. For the first time she's beginning to act own her own and with Jon they actually seem to go places. For the first time it looks like they're gonna take part in the "game of thrones".

Tyrian joining Daenerys is a promising development, IMO. Daenerys needs a shrewd politician [as an adviser] to address political problems she is facing in Mereen. She is making gains but she needs stability in Mereen and other regions under her control. Moreover, Tyrian is the man to consult to figure out how to bring the ruling kingdom down.

The new red woman is also a welcome development.

Well, what did he do? Wander about with the wildlings, sitting in Castle Black, waiting for the white walkers and finally becoming Lord Commander... it all seemed rather undirectional. But that is GoT: stuff happens and then people die. Except for Jon... now.

Really depends, if she just ends up sticking perma-scowl-chick with needle and ****ing off out of Bravos with nothing more gained/learned from Jaquen, it would seem like a long way to get to nowhere important.

Also, good to see the Hound back. Yet another huge fan theory confirmed. Bring on Cleganebowl! With him being barely brought back, that will probably be episode 10.

I'm also enjoying Jaime vs Blackfish. The dialogue could have been better between them too. It seemed too typical, whereas these two clashing should be more interesting to watch. Still, Jaime is a favorite of mine, so I look forward to what they do with his story.

It's good to see Arya picked up some useful assassin skills...

The only thing Arya learned in her time with Jaken is to get her shit pushed in on a regular by smug ass blond girl.

He also fought the army of the dead at Hardhome. AKA the only reason to ever think fondly of season 5.
