What do you think of Tywin?

I thought his devotion to his house and the way he manipulated his children was pretty twisted. The guy's single-mindedness to his bloodline reminds me a lot of General Zod's characterization in Superman. I thought he was a great villain and his conversations with the Imp and Cersei were always fun to watch

Seasons 1-4 weren't necessarily better than 5 and 6, they just focused more on the feuds between the different houses. Now that we're getting closer to the end, it's starting to shift more towards the greater threat--the white walkers. I could see how a lot of people would prefer seasons 1-4, I myself like more of the sci-fi/fantasy stuff. Not to say I didn't like 1-4, because I do. I just like the new seasons too. The plot just isn't as detailed as before and it seems like they might be rushing it a bit to fit all of it into 8 seasons.

Tywin wasn't anything special to me.

Yeah he was fine. Cersei is a better villain

well you definitely learned to hate cersei. but to me its more for the fact that she's is never as diabolical as she thinks she is. always thought Tywin as pragmatic.

Season 5 is really the only weak one of the bunch, it's slow moving, doesn't make much narrative progress and feels uneventful for the most part. Season 6 is outstanding though, with perhaps some of the best episodes of the series

"Cersie is a better villain than Tywin"

Stay away from drugs people

Even if Charles Dance didn't play Tywin, this would still be a laughable statement.

She sucks.

I actually like the character of Cersei, precisely because she makes mistakes and is nowhere near as smart as she thinks she is but Tywin is a far more formidable villain, shame he had to go really.

Joffrey and Cersei were the only two that I truly wanted to see dead.

Cersai is a different kind of villain

Tywin is both the most formidable GOT baddie and one most people respect.
Cersei is neither. Great performance by Lena Headey, but she's an unlikable kunt.

Being killed on the shitter by your dwarf son is about as embarrassing as it gets for a mastermind obsessed with his family legacy.

That was part of GRRM's point, for all his scheming brilliance, Tywin died because he couldn't bring himself to be respectful of his most capable child, even after Tyrion basically saved the Lannister bloodline.

Spoiler:
Though Tyrion is likely not of his blood

That and, as was discussed in interviews and such at the time The Children released, Tywin didn't die because he was outfought or outplayed, but because of his own shitty parenting and a child who never truly opposed him.

Benioff and Weiss said Tywin was the best player in the whole game.

of most def. tywin played the Game longer and better than anyone. he bided his time to get his line on the throne

You're relying on a couple of retards to make your case for you. Benioff and Weiss' opinions are nearly worthless. They don't understand the work they adapted, nor do they understand the work they've made. They should kill themselves tbh.

Anyway, Littlefinger is a better player than Tywin IMO, even though he's actually less competent (in some ways) in the show than he is in the books. Littlefinger has maneuvered himself from being the single least powerful noble in Westeros into one of the most powerful, and barely anyone noticed. His mastery of the instant transmission technique only clinches his superiority as a player.

A very fair point, LF has achieved with very little to draw upon, while Tywin was born with his family name and the wealth/power associated with it.

Though to add to the above about his birth, if we take The Rains of Castamere literally(and we should by all accounts), House Lannister is feared largely in part because of Tywin.
