Dont get me wrong I liked the episode. These type of episodes are fine for any other season. I just thought since there are fewer episodes this season and the show will be over completely in about 13-14 more hours, that they would change the pace a bit. Even if its the opener to set things up, etc.
😬
Yeah agreed. The episode was off to such a good start too. I expected the ending to be equally big. That said, I'm sure episodes like this will be rare going forward. Six episodes left in the season after all.

Also, I'm looking forward to seeing what Euron has in store. That looks like a great alliance for Cersei.

Still want to know how the Ironborn managed to make ships like that living on a slime-rock with the seasonal weather of north Scotland.

They harvest timber from a nearby island and whatnot

I found the first episode of season 7 somewhat underwhelming.

But if the rest of the season is all-out battle then I'll forgive it. 👆

So my biggest question was this: What will Cap'n Greyjoy's gift to the Mad Queen be? He's not the type to face insane odds to achieve a goal, so seems likely that he has plans for a softer target that will yield very big rewards.

It will be interesting to see how things with Sansa play out. She's feeling a bit miffed about not getting to be the Queen of the North, Little Finger's influence is clearly working on her mind a bit in terms of wanting power & revenge, and Jon isn't even an actual Stark, so that arc could go in very interesting ways.

NOOOOOO probably theon and/or yara (judging by their "oh fml" expressions in the trailer as fire rains down from overhead.)

IDK about Theon and Yara. Cersei doesn't care about them. That would be more of a present to himself.

Figured Euron would go after the Sand Snakes first if we're talking about potential targets for gifts. There's small risk in going after them and Cersei holds huge resentment towards them so it works..right?

The gift is that horn thingy that is said to be able to control/subdue dragons, which would be what Cersei needs to stop Dany's three dragons from wtf pwning her armies all by themselves.

Speaking of horns, whatever happened to the Horn of Winter which Sam found buried with the dragonglass shards beyond the wall? Can't recall.

Speaking of dragons, there's a good chance we're going to see Tyrion riding a dragon. A dwarf riding a dragon, not something you see everyday.

I think it'd probably be Olenna Tyrell. Jamie mentioned how the Tyrell's control most of the food supplies in Westeros. Strategically that makes the most sense but I'm not sure Euron is aware of that storywise.

TV-wise, assuming he's going to provide someone to just be killed, the Sand Snakes make sense since they're so unpopular. Likely the actress that plays Colleen Wing on Iron Fist.

It'd be an odd wildcard if it was Gendry somehow (he did just row away aimlessly. Maybe he wound up in the Iron Islands?) and Cersei ends up sparing his life. I don't think any of the characters currently alive besides Davos and Melisandre know he's a Baratheon though. Wouldn't make sense for Euron to snatch him up inexplicably.

Good stuff. I'm not sure where people are coming from if there are large complaints. The show is what it is at this point. We pretty much know what we're getting. Complex Westerosi socio-political issues will have to be glossed over for TV, there will be occasional jumps in logic (the Iron Islands fleet-from-nowhere, etc.), and we'll get some occasional protracted, slow scenes and arcs so that they can save the big stuff for late-season episodes. But plus or minus a couple excellent or dull scenes in each episode, if you don't like the GoT show formula at this point, there's no reason to be watching.

Lol, interesting. Imo all of the best moments have been character moments. Yes, there's some spectacle to the battles, many of which have been excellent. But I'd give up any battle sequence to get, say, one more delicious scene of Tywin owning the sh*t out of someone verbally.

Not sure how Gendry would be a "priceless gift" to Cersei at this point? There's really no one of great importance to vouch for his bloodline besides Vary's and Vary's would be a fool to show his face at the Red Keep.

But he is supposed to show up again this season, the actor was seen on the set. So unless he was just dropping off donuts for the other cast, Gendry's back.

the hound's saltiness stole the show imho.

I'm hoping for Sandor and Arya traveling companions 2.0. That was some of the best writing/interactions, but I think that's behind us.

Agreed. Their traveling road show of chickens and death was probably the best source of comedy in the entire show.

Good start for season 7.

House Frey got pwned. 👆

I have noticed that people complain about virtually everything; they need to take a nap. This is a TV show - not a suggestion box.

A good TV show contains a mix of action and character-development. It doesn't have to be fast-paced all the time.

Looks like Arya and Nymeria might be reunited this episode 🙂 I hope she comes across the Hound and the brotherhood too, that would be interesting to see
