Luke's not exactly a compelling character either

Couldn't agree more. in eps 4 and 5 he was nothing but an obstinate crybaby.

And yet everybody was upset that he died... you'd think the fans would be happy that the obstinate crybaby (who also has no clear story arc or redeeming qualities BTW) was killed off by Drogon.

Cersei is the only sane choice.

She's an absolute beast, but there is no way she comes out on top in the last season. I usually wouldn't bet against her, but that prophecy is gonna phuck her

I was on her side until my rewatch honestly. She won me over these past few years, but reliving her fuking over Ned convinced me to root against her just out of principle. I'm against Dany too though, so idk

I think he'll die taking down the ice dragon with the giant crossbow thing.
Maybe. It'd have to be tipped with dragon glass though. Otherwise, no crossbow will hurt it (being undead has its perks). Unfortunately, this wont happen at Winterfell. They still have no idea about the Wight dragon so that's gonna be a hell of a surprise. Maybe in Kings Landing though

Arya's going to be the big winner in the end.
I don't think Arya is going to make it tbh. She's the least plot necessary Stark, and I've always wondered about that "frozen corpse found in winter with a needle clutched in her hands" quote from Jon in season 1.

Night King will cleanse Westeros
Way to root for the winning team lmao. I love this show just because something like this is actually a realistic and very possible outcome.

Anyway, we're almost there boys and girls. Hopefully it's a sprint all the way through.

i think dany is going to be dead soon, a few eps before the end. also i think cleganebowl will happen, the hound will be brutally killed by ser gregor, and arya will then kill the mountain. jamie or arya will kill cersei. everyone else will eventually will be killed by the WWs, and sansa will somehow survive and win the game of thrones, possibly re-married to tyrion but perhaps gendry.

The new intro was cool.

Last Hearth and the Umbers got wrecked (good riddance, all they ever did was cause trouble for the Starks anyways).

Tons of friction between Sansa and Dany. I doubt Sam is much of a fan either after learning about what she did to the Tarleys. Jon learning about his parentage is sure to cause problems too. My guess is that Dany will learn about all this and tensions will come to a head leading her to abandon the North and take her dragons/army back to the South or the Iron Islands. Or maybe just Drogon. Rhaegal seems to have imprinted on Jon or something, so he'll ditch Dany if they end up all splitting.

Cersei is looking more and more screwed. 20,000 new sellswords isn't much. Euron can and probably will turn tail and sail away at any point too. On the plus side, 20,000 might be enough to withstand a siege from Dany as long as she can take out Drogon. If she only has to deal with one dragon and has enough of those ballistae built it might be doable. Dany has lost most of her allies already (Dorne and High Garden are out of the equation and the Greyjoys are shacking up in the Iron Islands without a real fleet so the North is all she has in terms of allies now) and I can't imagine Dothraki being a ton of use in a siege against the Golden Company.

Hopefully Jaime gets more focus for the rest of the season.

The sooner Dany gets killed off the better, but they didn't spend these past 7 seasons building up her invasion for her to be killed off so early. No way.

pretty good season premiere

Felt it was pretty meh and at times as if I was watching soap opera. The writing quality in this show has tanked.

Also that dragon riding scene was dumb as hell and went on for far too long. It felt like something from a Disney flick. I'd have been barely surprised if they began singing "A While New World".

Yeah, the "look out, he has blue eyes!" line from Ed made me roll my eyes a bit. Everything out of Eurons mouth is lame too. Also wtf @ Dany's implications of executing Sansa. There was a definitely "or else" somewhere in there. Do you really want to say that to her brother?

I liked Sansa bringing up logistics though. I've always wondered how Dany even takes care of her army.

I also liked Sams "You gave your crown to save your people. Would she do the same?" line. No way she would, and he's got her down pat.

Mostly though, yeah the writing has been bad since the end of season 4. That's all old news. At this point I'm just here to tie up the story and try to relate it to book plots (and the action scenes of course).

I am glad that at bare minimum these types of questions are even being asked. It would have been too easy for DnD to give in to fan favoritism and have everyone be onboard with Dany taking the throne from day 1. This way even if she does win it in the end there can be a feeling of her having earned it by winning over the people.

Yeah, their alliance is shaky and I like that it could really go either way right now. The "Winterfell is yours, your grace" line was put over Sansa smiling in the trailer so I assumed everyone would be onboard and things would be hunky-dory. I'm glad that's not the case. Sansa being more wary of Dany is good.

I just wish they'd cut down on the quips and one liners. When i think about it, thats where the dialogue always falters. It makes every conversation come off as telegraphed instead of having a natural flow.

Everyone is indeed a bit too smarmy for my tastes.

Speaking of Marvel...

Where are the elephants? This is a rip off.

Also Night King is already tagging places which is neat

Yeah that was a pretty terrible start to a season. How many times are they gonna go with characters being reunited after a long time apart. This episode alone you had Jon and Sam, Jon and Arya, Arya and the hound, Arya and Gendry, Jon and Bran, Jaime and Bran. Most of the dialogue was horrendous. The PIS is getting beyond a joke. Surely it's common knowledge that only Targaryens can ride dragons. Wasn't that the point of the suspicious look Dany gave Jon when he petted Drogon at Dragonstone? Now he can suddenly fly on one and neither of them notice the significance of that.

The burning Umber kid was awesome though.

tell that to dead ned's head

What a lame opener.

A decent episode, I'm okay with the lack of action seeing as how we know it's coming and it's gonna be yuge. The same with all the reunions we saw, we know there'll be less of that now that it's mostly out of the way. Cersei f***ed up by having sex with Euron, he's basically gotten what he wanted from her.

The Night King sending messages and playing mind games adds a whole new level to it now. Ultimately, the episode left me excited for the rest of the season.

Maybe she thought it's because Jon had her stink on his tip?

What an absolute beast.

It was kinda funny cuz she's like "I'm not a whore".

*40 seconds pass until she changes her mind*

Also the dragon is judgey as f*ck.
