Why do you want the film to flop my friend?
Because it's SJW bait. They're waiting right before an Avengers film to release their female-led superhero film, just like last year when they waited right before an Avengers film to release their black-led superhero film. It's the same SJW tactic. Not to mention that Brie Larson is a massive SJW herself.
Also, I find it odd that a character who will be so pivotal in bringing down Thanos is only being introduced and set up a couple months before Endgame. Seems less like good storytelling and more like a ploy to force audiences to see it to understand the Canon.
I'll admit that my TIH BO projection was rather weak, and saying it is a guaranteed flop is rather biased and premature of me. At the same time, it's not out of the realm of possibility, and honestly, I feel like this films BO could go either way, as there are a variety of factors that could shift the film in either the hit or miss category. One on hand, it is a pre-Avengers MCU film, so there will definitely be an audience. On the other hand, Captain Marvel is practically unknown outside of comic circles, and I don't think this movie will have the appeal of GOTG. So ultimately, I can't offer a solid BO prediction. We'll have to wait and see.
I will say this, Quan, if this movie is a hit, AND it's good, I will certainly eat crow and admit that you were right. I've been wrong about the MCU before. When GOTG trailers first came out, I thought that was going to be a subpar flop, and it turned out to be one of my favorite MCU films. So I might be wrong about this, but we'll ultimately have to wait for its release.
