Yeah the tilt of the head is more for the audience unfortunately at the cost of making the stormtroopers look stupid.

BS. I never gave a crap about Star Wars growing up and had zero childhood nostalgia for it, but when I saw Episode IV for the first time, I recognized it as a masterpiece. Sure, some of the acting is cheesy, but not in a way that takes me out of the movie. The dialogue that Lucas put into the script is shit, but that's how most sci-fi was written in the 1970s, and a lot of the riffing that's done by Han and Leia is genuinely funny.
