State of the Forum: Aug. 2016
For the past year or so, multiple users have complained about a board-wide diminishing quality of debates, a steady rise in trolling and shitposting, an ever-increasing sensitivity and hostility to certain viewpoints, and the pervasive cloud of partisanship and double standards.
So what is the state of the forum in your mind? And if these concerns are valid, how should we address them?

I agree that the debating culture was at its most orderly peak when the late, great Gideon was around to guide the ship.
But why has the debating culture suffered so much since? And how can it be rectified?

Theres too many trolls and bitter relationships. Its just not much fun to debate any more with how negative and hostile everyone is. People have made it pretty personal.
Forum members like DMB, Legend, Neph and Ancientpower routinely hyperbolize, blow feats out of proportion, and wank their characters to the point that having a debate is impossible. They aren't out to have a discussion and compare showings against other forum members, they're out to broadcast their worship and shut down other points of view. Which is why you get mass reporting sprees from them and trying to ban others who don't share their points of view
Also discussion of lesser known characters doesn't really happen either, its always discussion of known characters (Vader, Kun, Revan, Sidious). You rarely get threads from posters going into the Star wars Universe in the non battles thread, never have any discussion regarding non PT/TOR eras of the mythos, and battle topics seldom pass 2 pages or more.

You know, for once, Carthage is spot on. I'm not commenting on the people he chose to talk about, but honestly the issue with this forum is how personally people take each character's strength.
Beni will never concede on Ahsoka because he thinks he has to keep some movement going.
AP will never concede on Exile/Kun because she thinks she has to keep some movement going.
Ant will never concede on Revan because he thinks he has to keep some movement going.
I'm not going to pretend like we all don't do it to some extent, but how is anyone supposed to enjoy an actual debate when no one will ever admit defeat?
I think one way of sorting it out is to finally launch the Kaggath we've been wanting to do, but I genuinely do not have the time if I'm doing a CaV vs DMB or Beni...
