I do recall a heated exchange between them, yes.So the question I pose to the active debaters who've acknowledged the problem in this thread: why continue to debate if it's not fun, if the debate culture is terrible, and if there's no genuine interest in it?
Its fun to see where people gauge certain characters, and where they rank them.
But its just simply not AS fun.

It's all hyperbole.
Heated debates are comensning as we speak, and there are topics that still span for more than 10 pages, given enough ego-investment. It's not true that 'every possible argument' has been put forth. One must realise that there's potentially an infinite amount of interpretations for a novel, and it's embodied meaning. It's is not true that people don't change their opinions on certain characters, it's just that those changes tend to be subtle and less vocalised. For example, I might not be able to change your opinion on Sheev, but I probably could shift your understanding of Caedus, even slightly. True... this board could use some Fresh faces, but as long as there are egos with too much spare time, there will be debate.
Again, plenty of responses in this thread speak to the state of the forums. So many of the responses that go on during what are supposed to be debates are from the start laden with insults and personal remarks that have zero to do with the topic. On top of that a lot of the posters who jump into many of the threads simply for a chance to dig at some character they've taken a personal dislike to go out of their way to argue against whatever is presented, then turn around and concede some of what's been said simply because a debater they've had interaction with before says the exact same thing they argued against five posts ago.
I don't know what the deal is except to say it's that way on many forums these days. A very vocal minority likes to make it clear that civility online doesn't matter in the least to them, and unfortunately they're so loud that people passing through the forums take it to the be the tone and attitude of all posters here.
Again I ask what debates you're referring too when you keep bringing up some mythical event of two or more individuals discussing a character. Most of the threads that are posted here are about a few distinc eras of Star Wars, namely KOTOR, SWTOR, and The PT and largely the discussion is the same horseshit regarding Avellone, dickriding Revan, or Constantly talking about KOTOR game mechanics, or fellating over associated characters that only 5 forum members even know about. I mean let's all have a riveting discussion about KOTOR cut content, or how 00ber the Dread masters are when it's literally just the same people patting themselves on the back for being fully versed in a game that died out in popularity years ago. You can't get these same people to discuss anything else, or if they do the response is tepid one word posts and the thread departs into the oblivion of the back pages.
I'm not sure if anyone else here is tired of the KOTOR/PT/TOR circle jerking but at least try to entertain discussions of other eras (like Ant does on occasion). Its like general knowledge of the mythos seldom extends past those eras, and the same people that discuss them are amnesiacs who only live to suck off people from that era. It makes the whole forum seen so ****ing claustrophobic

You know, SKILLZ himself is an interesting case study: once an incredibly active debater, now dedicated entirely to shitposting. It's not just we veterans. excellent
Nah, I make serious posts in the comic versus section from time to time. I don't really get excited by anything in the SWEU or SWVF, besides the shitposting and forming new brigades with new POV's to keep things interesting.
Strange that this metamorphosis occurred after you bent the knee, though.

It's not because of repetitive arguments. Lmao. It's because of people being idiots and biased. What's the point of debating Kun with AP? There is none, because no matter what, AP won't change her stance. Same with DMB in the case of Bane. He just chooses to not respond to any good arguments against Bane and then continues to push his agenda in other threads. The list goes on. There's pretty much no one willing to change their opinions because people apparently have a serious hard-on for virtual book/game/comic/movie characters, so why have a serious discussion? Only Temp and Nova are at least somewhat reasonable, imo. Maybe NewGuy and Carth when he isn't trolling, but that's it.
Dmb's come a long way imo.
