Reevaluating the Sith (Legends)

So here's a thread dedicated to our re-evaluated rankings of the Sith. Palpatine, Plagueis, Vitiate/Valkorion, Maul, and to some extent Dooku have received quite some reevaluation in the last few weeks.

So, how/where do we rank the Sith now? Why? What are the definite places in a top 10 ranking? If we divided it into tiers, what would the list look like?

In just the Force IMHO:

1. Sidious
2. Plagueis
3. Valkorion (Vitiate would be tied with Krayt)
4. Krayt
5. Caedus
6. Tenebrous
7. Nihilus
8. Vader
9. Tenebrous's master
10. Exar Kun

Not including post-pool Soresu.

Interesting list. What puts Tenebrous or Caedus over Nihilus?

Ignoring Tenebrous' master, who would you put next on the list?

Powerscaling, tbh. Their raw environmental feats don't compare.

Ignoring Tenebrous' master,

Which might be wise if we buy Plagueis's speculation that he wasn't as powerful as the ancient sith before the realignment, but from a bird's eye view we know that isn't true; he just didn't have the talent for sorcery, though he eventually overcame it through sheer will.

who would you put next on the list?

Ragnos, Darth Revan or Dooku. Arcann too if he counts.

1. What kind of powerscaling?

2. No, I'm dismissing him because we don't know his name or anything about him bar Banite scaling and his "tear in the Force" that allowed the Jedi to feel the dark side for the first time in centuries.

3. Interesting. You're probably right. I don't quite put Arcann there, though.

Tenebrous could be there, or he could be closer to or below Vader; it's really dependent on how much of an outlier Palpatine and Plagueis are. If Tenebrous's master generated a tear in the Force, that's enough for me to put Tenebrous around novel Vitiate's level.

Caedus is greater than Vader per the blurb, and he's respectably close-ish-ish-not-really to Luke.

Yeah, I don't think the lack of information implies weakness any more than it does strength, but I see why you'd want to ignore him.

Well if he counts I could see him going from Maul to Vader level.

1. Don't you put Nihilus over novel Vitiate anyway?

What's the scaling for Caedus?

2. It's nothing to do with strength. Just that he's hardly even a character.

3. True, your list was Force-only.

I'm not sure if that's very reasonable "holistically". Maybe Nihilus > Vitiate right after Nathema.

What's the scaling for Caedus?

To expand on my edit, he was contending with a Jaina who was probably being amped to Luke's level in the Force. We know at a minimum that he's above Vader, that he studied and very rapidly learned lots of arcane knowledge, and that he has Skywalker-inherited potential, so I don't think it's that unreasonable that by his thirties he'd be novel Vitiate +.

Yeah.

3. True, your list was Force-only.

When Valkorion feared that Arcann and Vaylin (Thexan?) together could challenge him, was this while he was weakened?

8/9/10: some ancient pricks/Tenebrous

I'd be interested in Tempest's list.

1. Sidious
2. Plagueis
3. SWTOR Vitate
4./5. Caedus/Tenebrous
6./7. Krayt/Kun
8. Vader
9. Ragnos
10. Nadd

Not ranking Nihilius, or Post-Pool Taalon.

Sidious
Vitiate
Plagueis
Caedus
Krayt/Kun/Tenebrous
Vader
Ragnos
Malgus / Revan

Sidious, Plagueis, Taalon, and Vitiate are the strongest. Krayt, Caedus, Vader, Exar, Revan, and such probably follow them. Logically the Ancients (Naga, Marka, Tulak, etc.) and the Banites (Tenebrous, Ramage, Vectivus, etc.) would be riddled in there, but we know jack shit about them so whatever.

Its hard to make a legit list, but one thing will never change... Sidious is numero uno.

This.

And Plagueis is #2 🙂

I don't do lists. The only reliably factual list is

1. Palps
Then everybody else.
