The guy could face up to 6 months in jail.

He's probably going to win, too. He may have to serve jail time while serving in the house of representatives.

If he can't handle one microphone in his face and a softball question about the cbo score from a single reporter, how is he going to handle 30 microphones in his face and hardball questions?

I imagine he will be seated if he wins, no matter what.

Why do you think he will win?

because most of the ballots were already in

But you told me it was going to become a blue state because of this bro.

speculated. the only thing that could save him is the fact that most of the ballots were in. any thoughts on his actions or do you need to distract some more and treat this like some dodgy call at a football game?

Roughly 65% of people voted before the incident took place. Montana is a pretty red state and will usually vote Republican for this seat, which has been red for something like 20 years straight. The incident may have happened too late to really alter the course of the race.

Also, there's a disturbing mentality among some people, like fly, who think physically assaulting reporters for being a minor nuisance is a positive thing.

I for one think it is abhorrent if this man put his hands on anyone. I don't care if it was an easy question or a tough question, I do not agree with that kind of stuff. If you do not want to answer then say "no comment".

He should be removed.

You're definitely right. The guy is clearly unstable and unfit to serve in the most blatant of ways. I don't know if you heard the tape or really read the account of the Fox News team that witnessed it, but you really should, it's pretty interesting and disturbing.

Here's the audio of the incident.

jesus, if i was a reporter i would have like 15 go-pro cameras strapped to my person and streaming.

It is disturbing. There has to be some kind of special measure to remove this prick.

the way they lied about it was especially sickening. good thing it was recorded 👆

Before the charge was announced, Gianforte's campaign blamed the altercation on Jacobs' "aggressive behavior," and offered a version of events at odds with the audio recording and witnesses.
"Tonight, as Greg was giving a separate interview in a private office, The Guardian's Ben Jacobs entered the office without permission, aggressively shoved a recorder in Greg's face, and began asking badgering questions," the campaign said. "Jacobs was asked to leave. After asking Jacobs to lower the recorder, Jacobs declined. Greg then attempted to grab the phone that was pushed in his face. Jacobs grabbed Greg's wrist, and spun away from Greg, pushing them both to the ground. It's unfortunate that this aggressive behavior from a liberal journalist created this scene at our campaign volunteer BBQ."

It may have to come to that if this becomes a trend.

Also the ultimate irony that a Fox News crew's testimony is really the only reason this is so cut and dry. The audio alone was in question as being tampered with and it became a he said/he said thing before they came out to validate the claim of the reporter who was attacked.

Guy's defense is also laughable. Basically blaming the reporter for shoving a recorder in the candidates face and asking badgering questions (I.E. being a journalist) and being a member of the liberal media.

paul ryan showing his leadership skills by suggesting that gianforte apologize...if it's not too much trouble...whatever.

I respect Paul Ryan. Especially when someone asked him if Comey was a nut and he plainly said "no".

Yeah, like I said, if he does win he will be seated, no doubt about it.

I like Gianforte. He stood up to the Ratzi Media like a True Man! he didn't let that little media douche get away with their normal bully tactic bull shit. If he wins they will have to change the name of the state from Montana to MAN-tana!

So the guy won, he is slime, but lets make this clear: no, this isn't on Trump. at all.

What? Did the Really Cool Not Gonna Let the Press Act Like Pricks so He Kickes Their Asses for It Body Slammer Guy WON!

If so..

WOO HOO!

The guy was wrong to do what he did, no matter what the question was. It's just not something to be pinned on Trump.

I think Dems also need to stop treating all of these elections as if they are referendums for Trump. The narrative being pushed is that there is all this backlash against Trump, so now we see them constantly moving the goalposts. So a loss is a win now, and why? Because the guy in Montana only won by like 7 points or something.
