Terminator: Dark Fate

Make sense, to you.

No, just sense.

If the ppl complaining about female leads, the other movies being retconned, and evil forces continuing to rise/characters rising up to oppose them in this movie aren’t complaining about every other movie/tv show/book/comic that’s done the exact same things since before we were all born, then they’re full of shit.

I was figuring it was more like this being completely out of left field, because despite the quality of all the other T movies, they were centered around John Connor and leading towards the Future War we see in T1 n T2, if they had continued from Salvation since it took place in 2018(which a lot of people seem to forget, so I can't really buy their complaints on not seeing it.)

This suddenly happening with a whole new future and leader it's like...it's a complete left turn. So it's throwing everything for a loop.

Pluus....if John is dead in the past, then how does the Terminator that kill him even exist, or how does Sarah Connor even exist the way she does now? Killing John then, means...no Kyle Reese is sent back, thus no events of T1 and then no events of T2. So there would be no Sarah as a hardened trained woman ready to fight machines. There wouldn't even be an original future pre-T1 as well, because John wouldn't have been in a work camp and bust everyone out, so that future Skynet would win, they wouldn't have invented time travel to start with.

The only way it would make sense, is that....both futures exist, but the past is the same as both of the different futures. But even that doesn't really add up, unless the past is something weird in the universe where it's the same and yet could also change.

Also yes, I realize the multiverse thing for the Tverse was very much a thing in the lore material and Genysis, but the average audience moviegoer won't buy into that stuff.

^^^good post!

I wanted to comment on this though...

...because (imo) the average moviegoer won’t even care. It’s only ppl like us that go into conniptions about things like this. 😛

Just sense

As you define it.

Do you have any proof that they're only complaining when it happens in this movie and nowhere else ever?

@Riv6672

I guess, admittedly, I'm not too crazy on what happened to John either. I feel like if they went with T2 of stopping Judgement Day by Skynet, it would make more sense for Legion to just exist as is and have John and Sarah protect the new leader, along with Grace. Or just not have John entirely if he's no longer relevant.

There's nothing I can really see that changes the story much if you just axe that bit. I mean other than Arnold not appearing, I get why obviously to draw in fans and all that, but I mean from an in-universe perspective. It's just wasted minutes, that could have been used on something else.

Fair enough. That’s a gripe I can understand. 👆

I haven't even seen it, yet. But I've seen Critical Drinkers review, and kind of get some of the complaints.

At least about John. If he was the central plot device of every movie, and killing him off amounts to jack all, that kind of makes a mockery of investment in the earlier movies. It's like, why were we even worried about it? And why should we worry about this new savior being killed off, or not? Why couldn't someone else just take her place, or some new future pop up again?

I mean, when Star Trek did it, at least they had a totally new universe, with totally new things in it. Would have worked better if old Sara Conner was lost in another universe like Spock did, over the convoluted whatevertheheck happened.

That’s not the problem. It boggles the mind people can’t see this.

Remember T1, T2 and The Sarah Connors Chronicles? The lead was a woman, and no one cared for that. From day one, Jon was the savior of the human race. Many people died so he could live, then in this film, for all the years the fans supported this franchise, they were spit on.

Sarah Connor Chronicles was awesome. Absolutely loved that rendition of Sarah.

Bingo - there is no multiverse - the Terminator universe exists in a TIME-LOOP.

Skynet always sent a T-800 back to 1984 to kill Sarah.

Without Kyle Reese going back in time to protect Sarah - the T-800 would kill her.

Without John Connor existing - Kyle Reese never goes back in time.

John Connor will always survive - and Judgement Day cannot be stopped.

"Terminator" Bombs Again As "Dark Fate" Nabs Apocalyptic $11 Million Friday

^^^If this movie had done better at the box office I totally would have enjoyed it more. 😆

??

Just saw this. It was meh, the action was nice but the blatant feminist message was off-putting. This franchise is done (if that wasn't obvious with Genisys already).

Yeah and like ive been saying... this was going to flop regardless of the quality.

Too soon after Genisys.

YouTube video

Only reason i ever visited that channel. Shit was hilarious.

this film had clear script issues.. i can see why there were problems... gabriel luna was okay as rev 9 but needed and wanted more from him.. dani ramos was a weak protagonist. im a fan of mackenzie davis as i watch halt catch and fire, but her character as grace lacked quality. the story itself as i thought was generic, hackneyed and same story threads as all they did was replace one A.I. for another.. good seeing linda hamilton and arnold, HOWEVER, This franchise should stay dead and remain there. Dark Fate SHOULD'VE been used to totally reboot and reinvigorate it, instead they give us dogshit

Funny how this is supppsedly a dog Shit retread. But when Star Wars does the same thing in a way that makes no f***ing sense whatsoever, its AMAZZZZIIINNNGGG... Will watch it 10 times just to fund Disney more!!!

But thats Disney shills for you.

Terminator on the other hand required a reset, as the 1997 Judgment Day with John Connor as the saviour of an Apocolyptic 2029 clearly wouldnt work anymore.

But like I already stated this was destined to flop. It didnt need to die, but it certainly needed a break after Genisys. Like 5-10years.

This was fun, though. On to the next movie! 😆

Didn't watch the new Star Wars movies either, trailers didn't hook me and judging by everything I've heard. I made the right choice.

Girls shouldn't have movie heroines..? The millennial message.
