Its easy to say that in hindsight, but this was the guy who made a green puppet work as a legit iconic character. So id say it was more trust than a lack of balls.

But the fans pushed back, and he clearly listened.

good point

Replying in the SW thread so I don't go any more off-topic than I have already.

And if he was replaced with another white male?

There would be no rage complaints.

Why'd he need to be replaced at all?

Because the timeline of the old films was outdated.

John would be middle aged by the time of Judgement Day, so probably not appropriate to be the Savour of Humanity starting out there.

Well replacing him with a white male certainly wouldn't be an attempt to get woke.

I don't think he needed to be replaced though.

Time travel shenanigans mean they could have had a john connor in his 20s or 30s.

And he's a military leader so I'm not sure why his being middle aged is wrong you ageist!

Middle Aged at the point of Judgement Day! So obviously older as you go forward.

Anyway his enemy was Skynet. With that gone his purpose was kinda gone. With a new enemy in a more distant future comes a new hero.

Anyway killing a character isnt shitting on them IMO. I WISH the worst thing the ST did to Luke was kill him!

I knew Edward Furlong was back for a small role, so I was fearing a Fat Thor (given how Furlong looks) loser John Connor type situation.

Make his daughter the new savior and have John take over Sarah's role as the parent/protector.

^A good idea.

I like it

Nope, zero originality. 👇

But let me guess: what they ended up doing was original?

Well theres always the next reboot which ignores all the previous T2 sequels.

Honestly that beginning shocked the hell outta me. Definitely original.

You just know if they reboot it we'll end up with John Connor as a transgender black guy with vitiligo.

And way back in the 90s the movie "Scream" killed off in the beginning of the movie a character you thought would be a main character.

People are just salty that I came up with a better idea in under 30 seconds.

BTW, how is killing someone off and replacing them original?
