I do like Thanos. I just don't care so much for some of the other gay characters like Captain America and Hawkeye.

Only like you nitwit you need to worship Thanos.

Well here's your dichotomy...

"Captures the breathless quality of reading 30 issues of a single comic-book series in one sugar-addled afternoon, shoving as many amazing characters and storylines and images into one film as it can possibly hold."

William Bibbiani

"Hellboy returns in this unholy mess of a reboot, which is marred by terrible CGI and a poorly executed story."

Meg Downey
IGN Movies, April 10, 2019 | Original Score: 4/10 👇

That first reviewer up there says all the things you'd hope for...

"It could have seemed overstuffed and frenetic, but this new “Hellboy” instead comes across as imaginative and freewheeling. Even the shocking violence is fun and humorous, harkening back to the good old days of splatstick horror classics like the “Evil Dead” and “Waxwork” movies."

He admits the budget might have affected some of the special effects at times, but...

"In the end, that’s part of the charm. Neil Marshall’s “Hellboy” is a wellspring of creativity, a major superhero movie made for hardcore R-rated horror fans, overflowing with humor and action and scares. It’s ambitious and low-key at the same time, knowing full well that its target audience isn’t the mainstream blockbuster demographic that demands structure or even sanity. It’s specifically designed to attract a cult audience who will love it to pieces and turn it into a long-lasting treasure"

So, I'm still holding out some hope. *shrug*

Anything that's specifically designed to attract a cult audience won't attract a cult audience because people see through that shit easily.

I sure do have to search hard for the positive reviews, but this one's good...

"...doesn't so much change the Hellboy formula as leave it drowning in a pool of blood."

Haha..

This has 12% on RT.

Ouch.

Is this a shock to anyone?

I'm shocked it's not doing even worse.

Apparently there was trouble on the production with the film

hm.. yeah, that's never good if the producers and director aren't on the same page. And apparently they butted heads quite a bit. 😬

Just saw this, I thought it was fun. I don't know what the critics are bitching about.

Yeah another poster on another mb saw it too & greatly enjoyed the film.

I value his opinion & I'm honestly more anxious to see HB than EndGame.

I will try to watch Hellboy when I find it, honestly the idea of bringing scares and humor into it sounds appealing to me, so I expect to get some serie B pleasure out of it at least

Yeah, I expect the audience rating for this to be much higher.

After all, I don't expect brilliant storytelling and character development. I'm going for the gore, action, irreverence, and visuals.

I'm still pissed we didn't get a Hellboy 3.

Just back from this. Pretty good. Harbour is very good but you miss Ron's voice. The violence is hilariously bloody. A couple of the action sequences are brilliant. Some of the humour works and some doesn't. Sasha Lane and Daniel Kim's accents are off-puttingly terrible. Mila Jovovich has some good and bad bits. Brian Gleeson sounds exactly like his father. I could've swore Gruagach was played by Stephen Graham but apparently not. Some excellent references to other things. The Witcher III, Predator, American Werewolf in London among some of the more obvious to those who know them.

Overall I'd give it a 7/10

Cool.

Yeah, audience reviews are coming in at about the same approval rating as the Del Toro films.

I'm catching a matinee tomorrow...

My only gripe with Harbour was that he seemed to have trouble annunciating/projecting his voice with the facial prosthetics. I suppose that's not his fault though.
