Again, now we have to start taking down all symbols that have any negative connotations. The Union Jack flags must be taken down because at one point, The British were pillaging and exploiting other countries and is probably looked upon negatively to those countries. So does the Spanish Flag. Hell all major European country flags. lolI read an article where the St. george flag was remved for similar reasons. To me, that's just stupid. Just because a person finds pride in a symbol doesn't mean they necessarily agree with everything the symbol once represented.
When we start letting the most easily offended people make all of our decisions, I think we are headed down a terrible path, but that's just me.

My stance hasn't changed. I agree that what a symbol once stood for does not have to define it now. Yours, however, seems to become contradictory when the symbol in question hits closer to home.
The most sensitive comment was made in general and was not directed at you personally.

The Union Flag, which by even your own country, was not looked upon favorably because of its roots with the atrocities of colonization and use by British racists or far rights, has a bad rep itself. By your logic above, this would mean that the union flag should be removed.

I assume that most British are proud of what the flag represents now, and many of the people I know who brandish confederate flag merchandise don't promote slavery, but just a pride in the south.
