Removing our History

It's genius what are you talking about? You can't counsel a pickle.

But you can make a sandwich out of it.

ooohhhh...That's a good point

Again, now we have to start taking down all symbols that have any negative connotations. The Union Jack flags must be taken down because at one point, The British were pillaging and exploiting other countries and is probably looked upon negatively to those countries. So does the Spanish Flag. Hell all major European country flags. lol

I read an article where the St. george flag was remved for similar reasons. To me, that's just stupid. Just because a person finds pride in a symbol doesn't mean they necessarily agree with everything the symbol once represented.

When we start letting the most easily offended people make all of our decisions, I think we are headed down a terrible path, but that's just me.

No we don't lol. Nazi symbols were stripped & banned in Germany over half a century ago, your slippery slope failed to follow. Neither does the fact that bad things were done under and in the name of the Union Jack mean that the Union Jack represents those things, or rather that its inherent to British ideology, the Union Jack represents what Britain is today, and the aspects of our past we choose to celebrate. I don't recall anyone every suggesting we allow the most sensitive members of our community make all the decisions, so I'll just ignore that kek.

You support getting rid of Mount Rushmore, at least?

Unless you're an imperialist/slave owner apologist who also hates the freedom of the press.

Are you?

Sry what was that? I don't speak retard. 🙁

Now you're just plain lying.

That's clearly what it means by your logic though. lol The only reason these statues and flags are being criticized is for what once happened in the name of said symbols. It does not mean that that is what they represent to everyone now and what they choose to celebrate to use your above words.

My stance hasn't changed. I agree that what a symbol once stood for does not have to define it now. Yours, however, seems to become contradictory when the symbol in question hits closer to home.

The most sensitive comment was made in general and was not directed at you personally.

Self Destruction is a pretty hard value for the Leftist Fascist Agenda.

Right, sure it does. Now my understanding is that people are protesting these symbols because the Confederates stood upon an inherently racist platform of slavery, and that those commemorative statues of, may I remind you, individuals, are guilty of many atrocities, which would yes, define what they represent, and serve as valid reason for their removal. The extent to which this is true or not I don't know, as I am not an expert on US history, but certainly, white supremacists seem to love them. 🙁

And I'm not sure why it would be lol, its still irrelevant nonsense.

Those that forget the lessons of their past are doomed to repeat them in the future.

That and the Left prefer a society with no identity.

Al Sharpton is mad, doesn't want his tax dollars going to things he doesn't support, like confederate statues.

No word on what this means for people who do not support Planned Parenthood. Plus remember Al has a stellar tax paying record.

The fact that the alt-bros aren't prepared to defend Confederates but instead pretend these statues are there as cautionary reminders is also very tellling. 😘

What part of "it used to" do you not understand? lol. You even used this point in your defense of the Union Flag. Come on man.

The Union Flag, which by even your own country, was not looked upon favorably because of its roots with the atrocities of colonization and use by British racists or far rights, has a bad rep itself. By your logic above, this would mean that the union flag should be removed.

My stance as it has been, is that it doesn't have to mean that anymore. Just because you like a confederate flag or Union flag does not mean you support what they once represented. I assume that most British are proud of what the flag represents now, and many of the people I know who brandish confederate flag merchandise don't promote slavery, but just a pride in the south.

Is honest Abe at least still cool?

Okay fair point man, honest people don't put journalists in jail for their reporting.

Cool but no. And I already explained why.

The point of contention is what the Confederacy means to America today, they really need to work that out, but as usual, you guys don't agree on anything. 🙁

Explain how your "United Kingdom" is so agreeable?

it says 'united' right there in name.

but so does ours. therefore beni is wrong.

They agreed to brexit and then everyone cried and now wants everyone to agree on a do-over.

Like a little kid who loses at rock/paper/scissors and then screams "best two out of three". But with less dignity.
