Star Wars: The Mandalorian - Discussion Thread

By my estimates this baby Yoda is the equivelent of a 5 year old human. I figure Yoda aged 1 year to a human aging 10 years. If Yoda was 900 hundred when he died of old age and a human male makes it to 90 years that's pretty average or even above average. Granted some may live to over a 100 just like some of Yoda's species could live to over 1000.

I dig it because it's Star Wars but the show is kinda boring so far

I reckon Yoda was probably at the topmost age rage for his species, given that his massive connection to the Force probably helped him live as long as possible.

Either way, I think Maz Kanata's species are the only longer-lived beings in Disney canon, with Maz herself already being over 1,000 years old and showing no real signs of slowing down... Although she is also strong with the Force, so I'm sure that help a bit.

Wookies have a long life span as well. In one of my Star Wars Visual Guides it says Chewbacca is 234 years old at the time of the Force Awakens and that he hasn't reached middle age yet.

What do you guys think of this theory?

I partially agree with Neme, I don't hate baby Yoda, it's fricken cute, but I also hope it doesn't become the plot point of the entire season.

Though I fully do expect it to do just that.

It's gonna be like some lone wolf and cub shit

Saw a theory that Yoby could actually be a legit clone of Yoda, and that's why the Kamino scientist guy was so adamant that it was returned alive.

...But I also saw another theory that Yoby is the love-child of Yoda and Yaddle, lol.

oh my god Yoda and Yaddle, don't wanto to think about it. Actually, what happened to Yaddle in canon?

Where canon is concerned, all we know is that Yaddle left the Jedi Council after the events of TPM, and opted to take a less active role in Jedi affairs across the board.

That's about it.

Either theory works in explaining how a toddler is so powerful in the Force.

The second theory suggests that after Yaddle got preggers with Yoda's baby, Yoda himself essentially made her leave the Council and take a backseat with the Jedi stuff, in order to raise their love-child off the grid. That's why we never saw her again(in canon) after TPM.

I certainly hope it doesn't go that route, though...

Also, Pedro Pascal prematurely gave away The Mandalorian's real name here:

Spoiler:
Sounds like "Dyn Jarrin", or something thereabouts?

Yeah, if Yoda has to be connected here, I prefer a Yoda clone maybe ordered by Palpatine after they fought using a droplet of recovered Yoda blood.

But it's probably going to be secret love child and Yoda's a hypocrite.

Though Yoda not being directly connected at all would be preferred, give us something entirely new and separate.

👆

I want Yoby to be entirely separate from Yoda or any other previous Jedi. Preferably a new member of his race that the de facto Imperials stumbled upon and want to clone/experiment on for whatever reason.

The first theory is the lesser of two evils for sure, but then it makes me wonder how they would have acquired any of Yoda's blood to clone from? I don't remember him bleeding at all in ANY of the Star Wars movies??

You can even see him cringe a little when he drops the name. He knew he ****ed up lol.

They could come up with any bullshit you can imagine to explain that.

For example, we know Yoda's midi-chlorian count had been measured as of TPM, which would have required him providing a blood sample... So perhaps they kept his sample on ice in the Jedi archives and it was eventually found by the Empire?

Or they could just preform a minor retcon and have him bleeding a bit in the wake of his battle with Palpatine(he did fall a good distance off the Senate pod, after all)..?

Point is, it wouldn't be hard to come up with an explanation as to how they acquired Yoda's genetic material, IF they were to go the clone route with Yoby. /shrug

WOW GUYS WHEN BABY YEED WAS ABOUT TO BE GORED BY THE SPACE RHINO I REALLY FELT TENSE MAN HOL-LEE COWABUNGA IN THE JUNGA I WAS SO SCARED FOR HIS LIFE IM GLAD HES OKAY

I hope the clone theory is the right one. I don't like the idea of another powerful force user naturally being born, it would make the likes of Kenobi, WIndu or even fisto (who are supposed to be prodigies themselves) less "special" if every 20 years a Yoda-tier force user is born. I am already bothered by Rey. This is something that also upset me in the old EU, when in a relatively short time span you had Yoda, Luke, Unuthul, Darth Krayt, Lord Nyax, Gethzerion, Palpatine and probably a few more I'm forgetting. Too many too powerful force users in a short time frame. The top tiers of this era should be Yoda, Palpatine, and the SKywalker family (and the deities like the Ones of course)

Baby Yeed being a clone or son of Yoda would be stupid. Just let him be another member of the species. There is no reason to directly tie him to Yoda.

Cmon dude, it’s Star Wars. The heroes are never really going to be in any true danger. If you watch SW expecting the major heroes to die your going to be disappointed.
