Star Wars: The Mandalorian - Discussion Thread

You mean the jedi purge? Or was there a purge for the mandalorians too?

We don't know yet.

I imagine the Mandalorains were also purged during order 66. They would have definitely resisted the Empire afterall.

My only gripe is there was not a single woman in episode 2. Droids have more lines than women do.

Actually there was one woman bounty hunter

This latest episode was the most interesting so far if not predictable. Show itself is still kinda boring to me, honestly

Managed to get hold of the first 3 episodes. Unfortunately the baby Yoda thing was already spoiled for me as its literally everywhere.

Im digging the show. You can tell Filoni is involved, as getting a very TCW/Rebels vibe from it.

Huge toy win by Disney alone

It's finally something that feels like Star Wars, imo. 👆

I can't in all honesty, get into anything SW Disney related....even if it's good. The movies, the main thing that should be good...just...completely soured me out of anything else.

All 3 episodes had been pretty fantastic. Actually feels organically like SW unlike the new trilogy. And ive never been a fan of Boba or Mandalorians.

Agree 100%. 👆

I wish we'd had the team working on this working on the sequel trilogy but it's too late now 🙁

I honestly believe the ST could have been great if Favreau had been at the helm... But alas. 🙁

Disney saved Star Wars

Yeah Favreau and Filoni seems to be a winning combination.

As much shit as we give Filoni for playing favourites with the characters, he clearly does get Star Wars, and was mentored by Lucas for like 10years.

The biggest pock mark on Filoni's resume right now is that abortion of a show Resistance.

That being said, he's done great following Favreau's vision here. 👆

Oh jeez I have no idea what he was thinking with that.

Maybe hes best suited implementing somebody elses vision, rather than coming up with concepts himself.

This could be a possibility with the success so far of the Mando. And depending how the series plays out could also set up new movies after the new trilogy ends, without Kathleen Kennedy at the helm.
Hopefully the new trilogy ends and we can be done with all the awful new characters introduced and start with new stories and characters that have nothing to do with the Skywalkers.
Like new Jedi/Sith/Mando characters starting new stories with new lore , etc. Especially if the yoda child survives and is hidden away somewhere. All this can add up to interesting new movies/trilogies, etc.

This are my thought on the new trilogy.

For me the issue with the new trilogy is the characters are just uninteresting or just plain bad.
The story is not good either but its the characters that ruin it for me. You can still have a sub par story and good characters can carry it.
Poe is the only new character i would consider good. Rey and Kylo are just ok only a small percentage of the time. The rest of the new cast are garbo. I could care less about their adventures, their growth, or if they die.

Take for example Rogue One. Most of the characters introduced in that film were good imo. And that is only 1 film. The new trilogy cast has had 3 movies to grow and they still suck.
I can even argue that the characters from the Solo movie are better than characters like Phasma, Fin, Rose, Holdo, etc.

Besides the fact it doesn't "feel" organically like Starwars as i said before.
It feels like a movie trying to be Starwars as best they can and failing at it. Cant put my finger on it but it has a very manufactured forced feel to it.

All the new characters are like "Hey look at us we definitely belong in this universe, look how Starwarsy we are" "This is all the stuff you love and remember". "Please accept us"

When its done right, you dont even give a second thought to its authenticity and it belonging to this universe. Like the Mando, it doesn't even have much dialog , but its well written and the creators are long time SW fans and instead of trying to reinvent the wheel they just improve on it.

^ Spot on. You should comment on the Star Wars forum more often.
