Snoke proved he didn't need to use a saber to beat Rey or cause Ren to submit when his intentions were clear. Sidious and his force powers couldn't even best Windu. Windu clearly is inferior to Sidious in the force but his powers weren't enough. He needed Anakin. Pathetic.
