So, the NYT are hypocrites. Period. They hired a woman who had made several racist statement about whites. If she'd said the same things about blacks or latinos she never would have been hired.
Her defense is somewhat hilarious, as is the fact the NYT is buying into it. She says the tweets are out of context and that she was just "counter-trolling" to people who were harassing her. The reason this defense is funny is that a good portion of the tweets were in fact not made in response to anyone lol. They were just random racist things about whites she tweeted out. So her defense doesn't really hold up.
But the most hilarious and hypocritical thing of all from the NYT is a statement they made about Roseanne:

It also occurs to me that, in general, a person who makes a shitload of racist jokes or edgelord comments about race is deemed an actual racist.
