Avengers: Endgame (2019)

It’s so weird how Hulk was written out of those films, especially since he stole the first Avengers film.

Didn't feel like starting a new thread, but saw that Denzel Washington is rumored to be Magneto:

My first thought was: Well, Magneto was based on Malcolm X, who Denzel played perfectly. That made me think they need to cast David Oyelowo as Professor X due to his excellent portrayal as MLK. I know, stupid logic, but crossed my mind and I wanted to share it.

Sooner or later everyone sells out to Disney/Marvel

Seen that floating around on the internet about Professor X and Magneto, Wanting to make them black

****ing lazy if it happens.

Lazy writing

if people want new black heroes or villains then create them.

You do realise their characters were always based on Malcolm X and Martin Luther King right?

Besides It wouldnt be lazy at all, would make sense to update them for 2020. Id argue would be lazy to keep them white just for the sake of it - well for Eric at least.

You don't say...🙄

It would be lazy if they did go ahead and made them black just for the sake of it.

Eric would be the only one that needs to be updated to fit into the MCU timelime, Can still have a holocaust background to him just not one from WW2 make it something to do with the mutants.

You can update Magneto by having him be survivor of the wars in the former Yugoslavia.

So whats the issue then?

It would be true to their roots to make them black figures who both fought for civil rights. One just much more violently than the other.

Wouldnt be for the sake of it. Would be to update the characters for 2020 and being true to the inspiration for them.

The ethnic cleansing would be appropriate.

But the biggest/main one was the Bosnian genocide. So you want Eric to be Muslim? Would make sense tbh. But I doubt they’ll go there.

.

If you can't work out what the issue is yourself, Then it's no point in explaining it.

IOW you have no clue yourself.

Yeah, I definitely disagree with it being "lazy." Denzel is an age appropriate Magneto, and Magneto's childhood was shaped by a horrible real life event in his childhood that was based on discrimination. Given that Denzel was born in 1954, a major real life event that took place during his formative years that related to discrimination is the Civil Rights movement. That absolutely fits. Having a "fake holocaust" just for the mutants kind of undercuts that. The Civil Rights movement being part of his history may be a little on the nose, but it makes the most sense given the current timeline.

Turning Mags and Xavier black is an insult to Blacks as a whole.

Basically, Disney/Marvel are telling Blacks, guess what? Were are going to represent you in our films, not with original characters with original backgrounds, no, were going to turn characters that have being whites for decades into Blacks.

We want your money, pretend we gave a ****s, all the while laughing at how stupid you all are for buying our bullshits.

I demand we turn Falcon, Panther and Blade white for the next phase.

I very much disagree with this take and it sounds like you are the one bothered. Limiting black people to representation of brand new characters that nobody has ever heard of or cares for is not good representation. There is good reasoning behind some of these changes being discussed (see the above) and other characters being changed when their race was not vital to their identity shouldn't be a big deal. You asking for characters like Black Panther to be changed to white, even though it is a joke (I assume), just stinks of whiny "We should have straight pride parades since they have gay pride parades."

Hate to disappoint some folks but denzel probably won;t be playing Magneto, given the website saying it is clickbait

That is such bullshit and panderings. No one with any iota of pride in themselves, or their race would accept such craps.

Liberals have been doing this for years, insulting Blacks by doing something so stupid.

Turning Panther white is not a joke in my part. I don’t need liberals to panders to me, I want to be an equal on the table. Funny thing is, Magneto who’s base on X would have outright hated things like this.

The straight pride parade was a joke, it was the whiny leftist that turned it into something more.

It’s absolute laziness, it’s true.

So it is bullshit, pandering, and an insult to black people to turn Magneto black despite him being based on a black person and the civil rights movement, but you aren't joking when you want Black Panther, whose character is defined by his race and African culture, turned into a white man? That is the ultimate insult.
