It stopped being a surprise attack when Thor threw Stormbreaker at Thanos while Thanos was actively attempting to stop it and failed. Sure, the lighting strike ****ed Thanos up a bit but that was the only surprise part of the attack if we're being technical.

A surprise attack is a surprise attack.

Without it, Thor would have been screwed up!

Excuses. Thanos ended screwed with Thors Axe through his Torso.

Are people actually trying to gimp Thor out of his weapon? Lolz, if so.

Lol yeah. The usual suspects.

Youre being ridiculously dumb.

Storm Breaker isnt like a Green Lantern ring. Its a weapon focuses Thors own power through it.

Its the replacement for Mjolnir. IOW its standard gear for him now and part of his power set.

The hilarious part is you and Quan whining about Thor using Storm Breaker when Thanos was using All Six Infinity Stones!

Who told you that throwing something requires power? It requires strength/energy not power.

So again, your statement is stupid.

And am not whining about Thor using SB, in the end, without the surprise attack he would have been screwed!

You do realize it STOPPED being a surprise attack when Thanos saw Stormbreaker heading towards him and ACTIVELY TRIED TO STOP IT, right? If it was truly a surprise attack Thor would have hurled it at the back of Thanos' head. Now THAT is a surprise attack. The only part of the attack that was a surprise for Thanos was the lightning attack.

Do you realize Thanos barely had time to react to the attack???

Are you insinuating that SB>IG????

If so, then BOY YOU ARE ****ED UP!

I ain't claiming that Thor won 😂

It's evident you are just pissed off because Thor got raped at the beginning of the movie, and therefore you are desperately trying to give Thor a win.

I admitted that it was PIS. But it happened. In that moment SB was > IG. Thanos attempted to stop SB and failed. He had all 6 stones. Yes it was dumb, but it was badass as well.

The question is simple mr Space. Is Jourbjorn according to you more powerful than the Infinity Gauntlet complete??

Butt hurt that Thanos was too merciful. I would have wanted to see more Deaths.

Overall? No. In THAT VERY SPECIFIC INSTANCE? It did appear so. Maybe fate (as Thor said) willed Stormbreaker to get past Thanos' attempt to stop it....either way it did. And Thanos was very clearly attempting to stop it from hitting him.

The Infinity Gauntlet is a universal weapon mr. Doom, so the answer is simple and obvious.

The Infinity Gauntlet gives the user neigh omnipotence to a universal scale. Which means you can use it in whichever way you see fit.

Having said that, it's all about HOW you use it and not that it is weak.

In that aspect, it was Thanos who didn't use the Gauntlet efficiently or appropriately that had him impaled! Not that the Gauntlet couldn't stop Journbjorn.

So, why such an intellectual and smart villain as Thanos not use the Gauntlet correctly???? Oh well, maybe, BECAUSE HE WAS AMBUSHED

I hope it's clear now.

It was a hero moment for Thor/Stormbreaker at the expense of being PIS (plot induced stupidity). Thor overpowered a 6 Stone Thanos. Yes, it is dumb and doesn't follow logic, but again it stopped being a surprise attack when Thanos saw Stormbreaker zooming towards him and attempted to stop it. We are to believe that Thanos KNEW how to utilize the IG at that time, as he has shown mastery of it throughout the film. So, logic follows that we are to believe that Stormbreaker owned the IG in that moment. It sucks but it happened. I hope it's clear now.

Of course it was a hero moment, what else could it be?

Mr. Doom, a surprise attack is any you don't see coming and that leaves you little to no time of reaction.

Of course Thanos saw Thor coming, but he had little time to analyze proper countermeasures.

Also, Thanos was unaware of Journbjorn. So we can also assume that he underestimated the weapon

Why are you calling Stormbreaker Journbjorn? That's not the name of it in the MCU, and not even how you spell it in the comics. It's Jarnbjorn.

Anyway, as I said it was a surprise attack at the start. But Thanos has enough control over the IG to where he should have been able to recover from the first surprise attack. Perhaps if he was that flustered Thor's lighting really ****ed him up. I mean, it did leave scars on his shoulders and neck so it's clearly not comfortable for the Titan to take. Either way, Stormbreaker powered through Thanos' attempt to stop it and that's the bottom line. Does it make sense? No. But it's what happened.

Whatever the reason might be, i can assure you it won't happen twice. Avengers 4 will answer this dilemma.
