Dune (2021)

I've seen some amusing recommendations for casting in Part 2, like Nicolas Cage or Samuel L Jackson for the Emperor. Someone else suggested The Room actors for the Emperor, Feyd, and Irulan. 😂

And some other more seriously recommendations, but I honestly would prefer fresher faces. I trust that Villeneuve will nail it perfectly as he did for Part 1.

The film is even better on 2nd viewing, btw. And I think Villeneuve described Part 1 as sort of an appetizer for Part 2. So it's probably going to be bonkers.

Denis wants to do a trilogy so ending with Messiah is a good point.

Yup

So every time you look at hot and sexy young Sean Young in the original Dune, she's probably loaded up with piss and shit.

The smell of that puss must have been the stuff of legend.

I hope to gawd he gets to finish his Trilogy.

And I even want to see some Denis Villeneuve-produced sequels beyond that (I know he probably wouldn't want to spend the rest of his life adapting Dune sequels, so I'm fine with him just acting as producer). Because some weird, big-budget sci-fi shit would be awesome. I haven't read beyond the 1st book yet, but my friend has told me about some of the weird shit that goes on (for example I know that

Spoiler:
Paul's son, Leto II, is part sandworm.)

Yeah, I totally want to see weird shit like that. droolio 😂

It gets pretty ****ing weird especially God Emperor. Messiah being the third film in Pauls story on screen would be ideal.

Especially because it turns the heroes journey narrative on its ass.

I'm going to give Messiah a read after I watch the Lynch Dune again.

If you PM MrMind about it, he'll somehow buy all the tickets for all Dune showings worldwide.

charles dance would be a perfect emperor shaddam iv

Sounds like Part 2 should be more bonkers. 👆

And it seems streams *were* through the roof, so that's impressive...

Weird? Why would you think Leto II using baby sandworms as a biological exoskeleton and slowly evolving into a human/sandworm hybrid over the course of 3,500 years so he could oversee the completion of the Golden Path and guide humanity to ultimate peace and prosperity through a brutal, thousands year long regime of blood and interstellar conquest is weird?

😂

Just your typical sci-fi story...

false. sandtrout combine to form sandworns, but they are not baby sandworms.

Are you smoking Spice? Sandtrout are literally the larval forms of sandworms, meaning they are indeed baby sandworms. And they don't combine to become sandworms, there's a ton of the little ones and most of them die. The ones who don't are tough enough to survive and grow into sandworms over thousands of years.

They only combined on Leto II's body.

okay yeah maybe you're right, i always thought they linked up to form a new(born?) sandworm, because the opposite occured in

Spoiler:
god emperor, when leto dies

Ohhhhh, well that's because

Spoiler:
for the thousands of years Leto is becoming the God Emperor Sandworm Hybrid, he's also actively manipulating the genes of the sandworms to do different things. Keep in mind he eradicated the Sandworms to bring life and water back to Arrakis, as well as halt all forms of space travel(by getting rid of the Spice the worms produce by killing the worms) as part of his plan to follow the Golden Path to completion and lead humanity into a new prosperous future. So his death triggered his new sandtrout that combined to become sandworms so spice could be brought back into existence. And when that happened, humanity almost immediately exploded and explored like 10 times beyond the known universe in a new renaissance.

nah he wasn't doing it to sabotage the spice. They already had the Butlerian Gihad, so now they used the guild navigators and the spice but all they did was control the duration so the craft arrived where it needed to be without the ai post Gihad, but after Leto Ii came about they just reverted back to using ai in the great scattering and Duncan Idaho was cloned and tried to kill Leto 2 and cloned again so many times he could even see the future

Is there a middle- or post-credits scene?

No.

I don’t like post-credits scenes. There is a very specific final emotion that I was looking for with the final frame and I don’t want to mess with that. So no, I don’t use post-credits scenes. I’ve never done that and I would never.
- Denis Villeneuve

Thanks.

I've googled that, but wanted to make sure 👆
