what if they wise up and reveal muad'dib as a mentat in the sequel. it's conceivable, since his mentat training was done without his knowledge. jessica could still reveal it to him. also there was never mention of him even having gone into mentat mode, so we probably wouldn't have to see him do that godawful hideous eyeball rolling.

hbo now specifically is bad for films imho. home streaming of new releases should not be part of any package deal. not that i minded watching dune and the suicide squad for no extra charge, but it doesn't seem beneficial for the films
It's not, it was just a temporary covid thing that is ending this year.
We are probably going to continue seeing a 45 day theatrical window, though. It sounds like that may be here to stay for most movies.
Anyways, watched the movie last night. Never was able to get into the book. Really liked the movie. Amazing visuals, amazing camera work. Loved the "lived in" feeling of the world. Thought they did a great job.
Also it sounds like it's basically a sure thing that Part 2 will happen. Some HBO executive implied as much in an interview a few days ago. Movie seems to be making decent money despite being available on HBO Max.

No. Like I said, we have no clue how much they spent. And that’s the flat out truth. Sure, it likely was discounted but to say that it was “massively discounted” is unsupported.
I dont see them making offers for big films from other studios like Netflix and Amazon have (both made offers for No Time to Die). That is evidence backing up the wouldnt be willing to pay what those studios would (I.e. market value).
And yet somehow theyve been wiling to offer money for every single big WB film this year?
So yeah it very likely was a Massive Discount.
Part 2 has been greenlit!
Will be released in October 2023.
It's not a surprise at all. Various executives and actors, and even the director, have all been hinting that a sequel is coming in various interviews over the last few weeks.
I suspect that they've all known for a while now that the sequel was coming. It was probably greenlit internally months ago and all those involved in its creation knew about it, but they were being coy and using the "Will there be a sequel" as a kind of viral marketing.
Important note is that the sequel will come out exclusively in theaters, too. Director is probably very happy about that.
