Palpatine stopped firing though against Windu.. But that might have been to feign weakness in front of Anakin..In any case at that time he was lying on his ass and so his Lightning was literally his only defence from the second most powerful Jedi chopping his head off.
I could give him the benefit of the doubt here and assume he has no Saber to defend himself from Reys Sabers id she gets close.. But honestly I dont trust the writers of this crap feat one bit to have thought it through.

You guys got reading-comprehension issues?
This franchise has no future I fear. in a interview polygon and Kathleen Kennedy, Lucasfilm has , rehired are favorite of all people Rian Johnson, yes you heard me right Good ole cathy is rehiring the idiot that ****ed up The Last Jedi to direct the next ****ing Trilogy.
In Kathleen Kennedy's own words...……….
"We all loved working with Rian on The Last Jedi"
They have learned NOTHING. They are going to do it all...…..over......again.
Not happening. TROS will likely barely make a billion dollars which is downright embarrassing and a large part of that is due to horrendous reception of TLJ.
Kathleen Kennedy is done. She'll likely be sidelined until her contract is expired and then she'll be forced out. Her "story" group will also be fired. I expect Favreau will take a larger role and he, along with other creative fans of the franchise such as Filoni, will likely oversee the SW franchise from here on out.

On route to make about 1.2billion. Could get to 1.3bill if it has better legs than TLJ. But very likely it will end below TLJs worldwide numbers, despite this basically being the Endgame equivalent for the Skywalker saga.

With the Chinese-market rejecting TROS and Disney having to spend millions of dollars of their own money additionally buying theater seats in order to artificially-manipulate ticket-sales - I suspect Disney has barely broken even.
They might make a hundred million or two hundred million over their original budget - but there's a reason they're reluctant about making Star Wars movies, now.
They're not really making a billion without people to actually spend money on tickets.
It's a flop-in-disguise.
