I mean thats subjective. I personally think the Prequels are as Star Wars as you can get, but a lot of people felt they were not Star Wars at all.

Rian certainly shat in Luke, but not sure he really shat on TFA.

I disliked the prequels except for ep 3, but they still felt like Star Wars. Shitty Star Wars, but still.

And just look at TFA and RoS. Didn't they feel a lot more like Star Wars movies than TLJ?

I mean of course TFA felt like Star Wars given the plot was just a repeat of ANH. But Ironcally its lack of originality is what made it not Star Wars at all IMO.

TROS was again like a really lousy copy of ROTJ.

Proof that it's not the people who disliked The Last Jedi that are the true toxic Star Wars fans: JJ Abrams is receiving death threats from "Reylo" fans because he killed Kylo Ren. We also have people triggered Rey didn't "stand up to her abuser".

I do think they had larger plans for Finn, even Rose. But the toxicity of the loud minority made Disney react in pursuit of the last dollar, which is Disney's fault ultimately.

eg Rose wasn't an awful character in ep8, could even say she had one really good story telling and character development scene with Finn on the casino planet. But she was virtually cut out of the this film because of the ridiculous amount of hate her character received.

Finn was regulated to doing something from one poorly tied together action scene to the next. Then again, this whole film and characters was basically that.

It's more just that Rose was an awful character and people reacted accordingly and then Disney did the right thing.

And I don't think it was a minority of people who disliked Rose. I think it was a majority. That's probably why Disney listened.

And people did not react accordingly across the board, one thing is to say you don't like a character and note the flaws, another is to go on personal vitriolic rants about the actor. The latter is not good; these were the loudest voices Disney heard.

Cringeworthy dialogue combined with her nearly getting everybody killed. Why was she good?

And yes people should not harass the actress. She was just doing her job. I'd say out of the people who didn't care for her though it was a very small minority that behaved that way. I don't think Disney was reacting to the people who were going after Kelly Marie Tran, but the legit criticism about her character.

Forcing Lightning argument:

My coworker said that Palps really couldn't stop the Force Lightning. It creates a feedback loop. And the reason he stopped the Force Lightning against Windu is he ran out of Force Power Juice. George Lucas said that Windu won fair and square in that fight so that justification can stand.

He also said that Rey could use Force Lightning so she may have also been contributing some of the reason why it didn't stop. Makes sense.

I don't have as much of a problem with the Force Lightning thing.

Also, my coworker enjoyed this movie. He's in his 50s. He loves the Star Wars movies. For every buttmad fan there are thousands of other people like him who just enjoy the hell out of the movies. He saw it twice with his family over the winter break. That's a lotta tickets. 🙂

She wasn't any worse than say Finn when it came to dialogue.

I don't think she was "good" per se, like Kylo in ep7-8 good, just that she wasn't awful as some think.
