Not exactly fat, just not as frail as in TFA, hence why I used those inverted commas. There was that rumour that she was forced to get weight for TLJ, even though her metabolism and habits made it hard for her.

Old TLJ thread here was full of details on the subject, but I don't feel like revisiting it right now.

Rey looked better in Ep8 than ep7 and this is a fact, the tiny bit of extra weight made her look more like the woman she is and less child-like; this was the "she got fat" problem the complainers had.

Reys looks was never an issue in either film. But yeah id agree she looked better in TLJ.

TFA's super slim look made more sense, though. As she was a scavenger trying to survive on the desert planet in the middle of nowhere, not a Hutt.
