can't really disagree with you there, but it's a worrying trend nonetheless
If I'm being honest, I think it's a bullshit excuse more than a worrying trend. These guys had no problem telling actors that had read the books "no lol, you don't get a bigger part, you dead next episode".
That's not to say that the Star Wars fandom doesn't have toxic elements. It does, and those people shouldn't be remotely listened to when it comes to the direction the movies should take.
It just so happens that at the same time, people like Kennedy and Johnson have massively shit the bed, and they desperately need someone that they'll actually listen to, tell them to cut the shit.

^ That's exactly what got Disney into this mess to begin with.
Fans reacting with their honest emotions and accurate critiques isn't "toxic" - if Disney had listened to those people to begin with, then all these boycotts and the destruction of the franchise wouldn't have happened.

I'm not talking about you or me. I'm not talking about the kind of people that think Attack of the Clones is shit, or that the Phantom Menace has massive pacing problems. Or that Lucas can't write dialogue for shit.
I'm talking about the kind of people that made the lives of Ahmed Best and Jake Lloyd a living hell. It's not the same thing.

Oh - those aren't even Star Wars fans.
People like that have Down Syndrome and are likely Disney-"star wars" fans, instead.
And those people are the ones that give Kennedy, Johnson and Abrams their advice and are the reason the Disney-"star wars" franchise is a Non-Canon incoherent pile of shit.
