george lucas used the same bullshit excuse when he sold his baby to disney. truth is, as much as I disliked the prequel trilogy, and as much as an unprofessional twatwaffle as he's recently proven to be, I don't blame him for bailing out. there was a time, not too long ago, when wavering filmmakers' only fear was to lose profits and fall into obscurity. for example I highly doubt that ff coppola had to deal with all this toxicity when he made that godfather 3 abortion. people just didn't like it, lost interest, and that was that. the end. no campaign of petitions/hatemail/accusations/threats/etc from the internet babyman mafia.

I don't think that's the same kind of thing, tbh. Lucas had spent almost twenty years hearing about how Ewoks were shit, then went and made three movies that were panned by pretty much everyone. Even ROTS, which is a better movie than I originally believed at the time, still has a mountain of problems. At that point, it isn't some "toxic minority" giving him trouble. It's everyone. Hell, even his own actors (like McGregor) have joked on TV about the prequels being crap.

As far as what he said? If anyone has a right to, it's him, imo. Especially if the stuff about Disney screwing him are true. Even if his ideas for the sequel trilogy (assuming that stuff was genuine) were crap, Star Wars is still his baby. He created it. If he feels like someone dropped the ball after he handed it off, I feel like he's allowed to say so. But that's me.

Jake Lloyd was given a hard time at school. Not sure fans had much to do with that.

And Ahmed Beat was given hell mostly by the media, not fans. He even almost killed himself over it.

And frankly I find the prequel haters pretty hypocritical. Guys like Simon Pegg shitted on the Prequels constantly. Even came out said he cant respect anyone who likes them. And now hes telling fans to calm down over Last Jedi saying its just a movie.

Pegg is probably the most extreme example. But Most movie pundits have followed the same kind of pattern.

iirc both Llloyd and Best have spoken about being harassed in general. Same with Christensen. There are always going to be assholes. Even the stuff about the girl that played Rose, as much as I think it was overblown, I don't believe for one second that she wasn't given at least some shit for what happened.

Her character being utter shite isn't the actress's fault, though.

Like I said; thinking that the prequels or sequels have major issues (and they do) does not put someone in the same group as the kind of assholes that say the really mean shit. TLJ was, frankly, insulting, and it has made me seriously question Disney's Star Wars division.

Yeah she had to quit social media cause of how much people hated her character, I'm hoping she has a lesser role in this

I'd be happy if she fell in one

Early articles were actually saying she got even more screentime 🙁

I hope they were wrong.

Shit! Jar Jar got less screen time in ep.2 and 3, why can't they do the same with Rose

Probably because Kathleen is in charge and she's like this:

But relax, it's just a rumour.

"The force is female"

facepalm Ugh, it's not like anyone in the movies ever said that men and men only can use the force, the force in the movies could not be called sexist. The explanation of the force went completely over their SJW feminist heads!

Yep, she is rather sexist.

So why aren't people raging at her? Cause women being sexist is okay

Basically.

The force has no gender, it's genderless! And she's producing the films... facepalm

Looking forward to Palpatine making Snoke the ***** he is.

no mention was made of force gender in any film/show/book/comic.
but if you want to let a t-shirt trigger you, don't let reality stand in your way

His point flew right over your head I see.

I would love to see the reaction if George Lucas and a bunch of no name males were to wear a shirt that says the Force is male to a red carpet premiere?

What’s the backlash would look like to you?

👆 Exactly, it's meaningless to anyone who isn't being trolled for their misogyny.
