We have the batcave, the technology, Wayne Enterprises, batsuits, batarangs... the butler...It's still Batman.
Trying to be more grounded and less comic-y, but in the end it's still the film series about a filthy rich guy dressing up as a bat, having the same motivation as always, using the same methods as always.
Yeah exactly 👆

The Killing Joke says hello. The movie is a stand-alone one-shot film not connected with anything else. And it had no need of pretending to be a Joker movie --- other than it being a great marketing move, of course.

It really wasn't though.
Joker wasn't an incel. His story one of systemic failure's. Those with disabilities slipping through the cracks.
The part about funding being cut and resources being withdrawn to someone who clearly needed them is about as far from "alt-right" as you can get.

Yes.You can remove the few comic elements it has and rename the characters, the city the action is taking place in and so on... it won't matter one bit.
It still is going to be the same movie. Great movie, no doubt. But one that doesn't need any ties with DC universe.
Of course, pretending to be a comic book movie about one of the most popular villains was infinitely more profitable than having to get your own budget and crew...
Remember what Phillips said:
We didn't follow anything from the comic-books, which people are gonna be mad about. We just wrote our own version of where a guy like Joker might come from. That's what was interesting to me. We're not even doing Joker, but the story of becoming Joker. It's about this man.
Hmm.
I don't actually fault you for having that interpretation, but I don't agree with it, if that makes sense.

I've liked the trailer, but trailers and finished products are two different things.
I haven't liked them at all, but like you said, they're different things. Hopefully there's somethingof it to be enjoyed.

Can't wait for them trying to introduce Celestials..."Oh yeah, they're all giant space robots, with the exception of that planet-dude Ego, lulz0rsRotflmao"
lol yeah, that's gonna be a tad tricky.
Not to mention the Thanos connection.

😂
Still, would be nice seeing a Celestial as an apex predator again. Before they started only showing up to get cut down by literally everything.
Frank Castle could kill one with an uzi and it would not surprise me.
