so the eternity mask=eternity=the wearer becoming equal to anyone they face.

so if the "substance of" eternity can make anyone that powerful, doesn't that mean that eternity himself>all?

In Ewing's cosmology, Eternity is pretty much at the top of the totem pole. Virtually every cosmic being who serves a universal/multiversal purpose(including the likes of LT) merely represent some of Eternity's inner workings/functions.

That's also why the entire hierarchy was wildly unstable(ie. why lesser abstracts such as Order&Chaos were able to kill/usurp LT) in the wake of Hickman's Secret Wars... The new iteration of Eternity hadn't yet solidified(and was further being corrupted by the First Firmament), so there was not a defined/established hierarchy in place. Once Eternity did solidify, however, all of the abstracts resumed their proper functions:

The real Captain America.

Marvel/Ewing uses that term like it belongs in the CB Tiers thread, because evidently there can be multiple "levels" within the same tier.

Marvel has always used the word omnipotence in a more colloquial sense. Notably, Odin has been referred to as omnipotent a couple of times.

Which makes sense because literal omnipotence is the ability to do anything, and it's not too easy to spin an interesting story around that. Because not only can't there be any conflict, everything that happens has to happen the exact way the omnipotent wants it to happen.

Exactly.

Which is why we should remain skeptical whenever a character is dubbed "omnipotent"... Because more often than not, they don't end up being omnipotent at all(in the literal sense.)

Interesting observation. But people can create things that end up being more powerful than themselves. Reed Richards does it all the time. If that analogy doesn't convince you, Nemesis ain't done sh1t compared to the Infinity Gauntlet itself.

"all this am i. all this are we. and all of this is contained in the mask formed of my own substance"

seems to imply that the eternity mask=eternity himself. so in theory, if the mask can allow its wearer to overcome the beyonder or the phoenix force then eternity himself should be able to do the same thing if he chose to. that's my reading of it at least.

^ That's a valid interpretation but again, your conclusion doesn't necessarily follow from the premise. You cannot think of comic beings that create something that end up being more powerful than what the comic being itself is capable of?

Just a notion to think about.

no i get what you are saying. oppenheimer built the first atomic bomb, but he himself was not as powerful as the nuclear payload. that is also a thing in comics for sure.

but the way eternity worded the dialogue in that scan implies that the mask embodies everything that eternity himself is. so it seems reasonable to think that eternity might be able to preform any of the mask's feats if he chose to. obviously just speculation on my part.

Which is why I coupled the analogy of an inventor like Reed Richards with Nemesis.. who ain't done sh1t compared to the Infinity Gauntlet itself. Nemesis is literally the personification of the Infinity Gems plus the Ego gem.

So it's not exactly fair to limit the artifact (Eternity Mask or IG) to the being that personifies the artifact (Eternity or Nemesis). That's comics.

It's not unreasonable. Like I mentioned earlier, Ewing in particular seems to have a very high opinion of Eternity.

I took it as Eternity could do anything that any being could do but wouldn't bother.
