Kind of a random thought about Vsbattles:
I wonder if some people who debate comic books aren't even fans of characters they back, and just go by respect threads and compare feats, betting on a winner they don't even care for?
Basically the goal being just to win an argument?
Some people are like that, but it sure would take away the fun of it.

The worst part is that a lot of them who claim to have read a certain series are outright lying because their head-canon can be debunked by explicit plot-points, and they get mad when you point it out.
I haven't debated there in a long time, but there was this moderator called Matthew who had this conjecture about how the Beyonders that the Ex-Nihilo, Abyss and Star-brand killed weren't real Beyonders but "drones," based off their visual design. Of course, nowhere in this even alluded to and the change in design was easily explained by the change of artists between issues. But he threatened to ban me, and would wedge in the last post dismissing my arguments and then close the threads.
Among the points I made was this one:

In fact, the Wiki still supports this drone-conjecture.
There's also the whole issue that comic writers .....don't give two hoots about 'scaling' or 'power levels'. It's fiction, anything can happen if the writers and editors will it. Black Widow can take Wonder Man out, Domino can take Rulk out, Batman can fight an amped bloodlusted WW....
Not to say that the aforementioned behaviour doesn't exist, of course. Carv was famous for it. I like using respect threads as an aide memoire, but they're not often complete/accurate (see the recent Thanos portal scans).

Not to mention that it's easy to show that e.g. scaling isn't always reliable for Marvel and DC so it makes sense to put less of a focus on it. In fact the Beyonders perfectly examplified this, because their power level was based on scaling off the Abstracts and the Living Tribunal, but when it came to the Avengers the scaling was ignored.
