Power of X:
- well, at least it's being explained how Xavier went pseudo villain-mode.
- I like when it's revealed what role Sentinels/Nimrod played -- being a delay.
- how did Moira live 1,000 years?
- The entrys in Moira's journal have certain...interesting implications. The part where they talk about finding perfect genetics to produce offsprings with reality manipulation for Charles and her -- secret [retconned] origin of Legion and Proteus? When she talks about trying to change Magneto and make him a hero -- is she referring to the genetic tampering the tried when she aged him back to adulthood after being turned to a baby?
- there's a massive throwdown building in the future -- I hope it won't be them against generic bad guys, but the Avengers/FF/etc. [including Apoc, Sinister, Exodus, on either side]. Should be epic.
- I loved the issue, tbh.

I liked it for the most part, but "we always lose" isn't enough for such a drastic change in Xavier, imo. I know he always had his darker impulses, but this is a bit much imo.
And not having Cyclops, Jean or anyone else from the OG X-Men in his most inner circle is still really bugging me. Unless Cyclops becomes the red king in some crazy twist.
Originally posted by -Pr-Well, they did say it was a gradual process, and it took Moira a long time to 'break' him. He was clinging on to hope, but the more she was sharing with him, the more he was losing it. Then there's the *redacted* parts of her journal...who knows what happened there. And she even says that she fears what she could unleash to the board if she does manage it, which...we kind of see now.

Oh, I agree with that much at least. The redacted stuff definitely caught my eye, but I just feel like until we actually see what happened to push Xavier past that point, it's going to feel unfinished to me.
And the knowledge of what the Phalanx will eventually do must have been quite the kick in the balls too.
Originally posted by -Pr-Yeah, that's one thing I like about Hickman: he always has a complete plan in his head for how the story is going to play out(from start to finish), and his pacing is usually on point as well -- the issues rarely feel 'cluttered'.
I'd say he wrote large parts of it with the collected work in mind. Smart planning on his part.
Originally posted by -Pr-There's really no ongoing series that I would recommend right now. Unfortunately, the SW line has taken a pretty sharp decline in quality in the last year or so. The last 'good' series was Soule's Darth Vader v2 -- I'd definitely recommend that one, as it does a lot for the mythos(in very good ways.)
I can't remember if I asked this before, but can anyone recommend any good Star Wars comics that are currently running? I'm not too bothered by what era it is, as long it's half-decent.
On that note, Soule is about to relaunch the main Star Wars series -- it will be set between ESB and RotJ. I expect great things from that.
Soule is also writing a Kylo Ren mini that will detail Ben Solo's time as a Jedi student under Luke, his turn to the dark side/transformation into Kylo Ren under Snoke, the Knights of Ren, etc... Which also sounds promising.

Say what you will about Soule, but the guy can write a damn good SW story, imo... He even made the first Lando mini enjoyable, ffs(hell, that's where he first introduced Lord Momin.) That said, the first Vader series(by Gillen) was also reeeeally good, as are several other series' that Marvel has put out the last few years.
But as of right now, none of the current SW ongoings are really that good. The main Star Wars title took a sharp nosedive around issue #55(but up to that point the series was fantastic), and the Doctor Aphra series is complete garbage... The recent minis have been hit or miss as well.

Guess Disney made it easy for him - Soule doesn't care about continuity in general, but when the entire EU got reset, he only needed to respect the OT...
Or maybe the editors responsible for SW comics are actually doing their jobs and actually working with the writers and instructing them... unlike in Marvel.
