Problem I had with Knull in this is that he didn't do anything at all to make me think he was a high level cosmic being. Actually just came off like a mediocre threat.

Donny Cates isn't a good writer, but he does a good job with Surfer and some of those more fantastical characters. His style seemed to fit a lot better than Dan Slutts ripping off Dr Who, so I wouldn't mind him to stay on Surfer. I know he just used it as an excuse to whore out his OC Knull, but it was entertaining to me. Didn't even mind the art as it fit with the writing style. I don't know if he could keep that level of prose going in an indefinite ongoing, but it's certainly a more enticing idea than when Slott was writing Surfer as a guest character in the Polka-dot Girl ongoing.
Feats weren't bad either but that's secondary to the absolute trash writing Surfer has been getting this past decade. It was just better for Surfer to not appear for years at a time to avoid being Thor'd.
Speaking of... Aaron's Avengers is ****ing trash. It feels like ****ing Bendis came back with no direction and less repetition. His King Thor series confirms my beliefs that his first Gorr story was bolstered almost entirely by the art of Ribic; and by it involving almost no other characters. He seeks to test this theory by jamming those worthless granddaughters into every story so we'll see.
Ewing clearly didn't want to write a Hulk story for his big cosmic Hulk story. At one point I had to scroll to the top of the webpage for pirated comics to make sure it was Hulk. It seems Hulk just got shoehorned into an idea he had for some weird ****ing universe he didn't fully flesh out.
Hickman is interesting as usual, and Snyder also sucks cocks. Dude is one-upping his own mess at a rate that would be a "comedic" auction scene in a movie. As sure as Carver is black, I don't doubt he's nowhere near done.

Surfer was weakened. I don't think he was amped in the traditional sense. He used the energy(seeds) to seed life after he fought with his last bit of energy.
Good showing for Surfer considering he was weakned since issue 1. Knull definitely was too much. It was like fighting an uphill battle while knowing in the back of your head, a huge tidal wave is about to swallow u.
Loved the use of of Surfer's board and physicality from start to finish(all series long). Some ingenius stuff with the board here and not just your run of the mill board from behind attack. Quite refreshing from the usual blasty blast. Dude was like an acrobat, slash ballet dancer, slash street fighter.
Definitely wouldn't mind more Cates on Surfer.
