Both companies have been copying the other.

One of the most obvious examples of Marvel copying DC are their dozens of Superman clones: Gladiator, Hyperion, Sentry, Sun God, Ethan Edwards, Count Nefaria, and so on. (Marvel truly has an inferiority complex when it comes to Superman.)

They wanted Thor to be the main guy compete with Supes but Thor fails so much

so they created a bunch of superman clones

to be fair superman clones are everywhere, image has them, marvel has them, dc has 2 different races of beings just like superman

Even real people have inferiority complex for Superman.
What made them have so much inferiority complex?

Captain America copied Batman's entire storylines for like 5 years straight starting from the mid 2000s -- starting with copying Jason Todd coming back [Bucky also does!], Batman dying [Cap also dies!], Dick replaces Batman [well, what do you know!] and, in the end, even to the extent that Batman didn't die in Final Crisis, he was just thrown through time and, what do you know, Cap also didn't die, and he was just thrown through time.

These "coincidences" were flat-out hilarious. Especially the last one.
