The reason for that I'd assume is because it has more genres, more titles, it's easier to get into, and then there's the relation with anime where when the season ends people check out the manga to continue the story. You don't have that in Comic Cartoons because the shows are separate from the comics.

AFAIK, there are many misinformation or misconception in many vs forum that is apparent from even asian like me who know both japanese culture and western comic.
For example, both current DC and marvel worldview and characters are wanked to extreme extent by official writers.
But, most of them in vs forum all over the internet still believe old setting about DC and marvel.
Now, I doubt how many people in vs related forum read actual comics.
It is very sad thing for non-native comic reader like me.
