The influence is there in modern effects all over the place. Heck just look at Infinity War with the Wakandans with their shields being reminiscent of the Gungans in battle. Atlantis in Aquaman as well was very similar to the underwater Gungans world.
So yeah, love the Prequel effects or hate them, there is no denying they were game changing. And was kind of piss poor of the Oscars to give the best special effects award to Matrix over TPM.

I'd take the Vong vs NR/IR over FO vs Resistance any day.
I'd take Palps coming back through his sheer will and Force prowess with Clone bodies than this...mind device...thing or whatever. Oh and he gets defeated by 2 scrubs compared to him? Kylo and Rey's potential means jack all unless within a single year, they suddenly just jumped straight to surpassing Yoda which...seems really unlikely.
Oh and the Knights of Ren were secretly loyal to Palpatine?....What?
You know it's hilarious that people harp on DE, but ya know back then...in the early 90s, no one knew of a prophecy or the PT, so it didn't exactly ruin much of anything. Anakin still saved his son back then, which was the most important thing so he could live and continue on with bringing the Jedi back.
If the ST pulls this **** now?.....Then what the hell was the point of Anakin's Chosen One status to begin with? Oh sure they could say "the prophecy was midread" sure....but then why is material still referring and keep pushing this Chosen One thing then? TCW seemed to clearly point out how important Anakin is to The Force, especially with Mortis.
I just...man this is like some kinda train wreck you can't just look away from. I know, rumors are rumors but...each time new ones come out it just gets worse...and worse!
Oh and 3PO getting the memories of a combat droid......no.....no.....

Difference between then and now, is what I stated up top.
Early 90s, Tom Veitch couldn't see the future and see there being a Chosen One prophecy that Lucas had with bringing balance to the Force...much less seeing an entire trilogy surrounding it. Even further with 08 TCW and how it shows how important Anakin is.
Palps returning now....well then what the hell was the whole Chosen One thing about for 3 movies? What was Anakin's growth in TCW and his important status to The Force then?
