Jussie Smollett attack

Overall, I feel that this as a HUGE net negative for democrats in the long run, this not only confirms repub biases that democrat = corrupt (although the city is doing the right thing in distancing themselves from this) this also did huge damage to the narrative of racial privilege as well as hurt the credibility of all future hate crime victims. I can already see the attack ads come election time. Even worse, centrists (and many leftists on-the-fence) were quite convinced of Smollet's guilt, to see this seeming travesty of justice can only push them away from from these liberal talking points albeit a little.

I actually hadn't considered this. hmm

Sounds like they didn't do proper risk management when making this decision.

Also, looks like the Democrats are going to continue to see black-flight from their party as this kind of crap continues.

It means that the lawyers for Smollett threatened to sue the City of Chicago for infringing his 8th Amendment Rights by releasing details of an ongoing investigation to the public, thereby prejudicing potential jurors, and hindering his right to a fair trial. So the prosecutor agreed to drop the charges in exchange for him forfeiting his bond, and performing community service, rather than be on the losing end of multimillion dollar lawsuit and public relations nightmare.

8th? The one about cruel and unusual punishment, and excessive bail?

This is the same thing that happened with OJ. " I will keep looking for the killer."

Look in the mirror.

The prosecutors flat out said they still believe he lied lol. So it's not that he isn't guilty. They are saying his past community service(at some LGBT place) is enough end this, plus losing his bond(10k).

I'm thinking they feared a backlash or something if he was convicted, with the R. Kelly thing and more stuff about Jacko coming out perhaps black America would feel even more persecuted, OJ's trial was in the aftermath of the riots after all. And lets be honest, a white celebrity who did this would have likely gotten a slap on the wrist too.

You guys are failing to see the bigger picture. This here says, as long as you have money, you can get away with anything.

If this was just a no name black individual with no money, and no friends in power, he’s ass would have been sent to jail so fast our heads would spin.

Justice is surppose to be blind, it shouldn’t see green. I can promise this, the next time an actually hate crime does happen, no one will care. People will just call it the Smollett hoax.

That ****er should be spending his time in jail, yet he’s free, yet I had brothers lose their jobs because someone thought they were sexist and racist because they were joking in the field. While one is even doing time in lavenworth because he slept with a married army chick, her husband found out, and sense in the army, indefinitely is a crime we’re you can go to jail, she cried rape.

This incident has put race relations back even further. And I hope the ****er choke for this this.

Knowing he’s life style, he might enjoy being choke.

Rtard seems pretty happy Jessie got off here. Odd, you would think he wants justice.

Suddenly it matters what the prosecutor says. But when the guy prosecuting the trump campaign is silenced and "summarized", that's okay because fee-fees and special rules. "Exonerating" , in fact

You would have a better point if you just pointed out that the "Trumpers" standard is an investigation that lasted 675 days and consisted of

- About 40 FBI agents, intelligence analysts, forensic accountants and other staff that assisted with the investigation.
- More than 2,800 subpoenas issued by the Special Counsel's office, that's an average of at least four per day.
- Nearly 500 search warrants executed.
- More than 230 orders for communication records.
- Nearly 50 authorized orders for the use of pen registers, a tool that lets the government know who someone is communicating with and when, but not what they said.
- 13 evidence requests to foreign governments
- 500 witnesses interviewed
- $25 millionin posted costs as of February

In no way was Jussie put under that level of investigation.

👆

you made up more special rules for yourself, how adorable and totally mature.

No I didnt.

This is not at all surprising. Also won't be surprised when Hollywood continues to work with him.

TBF, charges were dropped, so why shouldn't he work, especially considering a lot of people thing he's very talented?

I don't personally know, never watched the show or seen him in anything.

Because the prosecutor came out and said they believe he lied. They are letting him off cuz he did community service at some Jesse Jackson LGBT center.

It'd be different if they said "we now believe he did not commit a crime".

Then again Roman Polanski raped a chick and Hollywood still accepted him so...

The same reason why most people who commit crimes should face some sort of repercussion ?

As a deterrent to others from committing fake a hate crimes.

@Surt and @Zucc (whose sock is this)

Up to me, he'd be prosecuted and if found guilty, face the appropriate penalties for the crimes(s), I've said this before in here. So both of you calm down.

But from a legal standpoint, all charges were dropped. So he's not a felon; he committed no felonies.

He faked a hate crime. This is still true. If Hollywood practiced what they preach he'd never work again. But you and me both know they don't practice that.

Googled, seems committing a fake hate crime is a felony and as we've covered before, as is filing a fake police report. He has not been convicted of either and those charges were dropped, so no, Smollet as much as he makes you rage, is not a felon. These are just the facts of the matter.

Tell that to Kevin Spacey. He's seemingly done.

Okay so now you're just trolling. Even the prosecutors are saying he lied. It's not up for debate that he faked a hate crime.

FFS, you always shout trolling when you can't rebut. I'm just telling you the facts and how they stand from a legal standpoint. Leave your emotions out of the equation. What happened to "innocent until proven guilty in a court of law'?
