I was thinking about this, and I think mocking incels and such is a bad idea. The term means involuntary celibate.
We assume it’s mostly men, but I’d wager plenty of women fall into this category. We assume they’re disgusting or sexist, this is fallacious. Some people are incredibly shy, sheltered or have suffered some form of abuse that hampered their social skills. That they are incels purely because there is something objectively wrong with them.
It’s one of those common problems that is very complicated but we humans try to simplify with sweeping generalizations. With the advent of SM, and degradation of social skills, the number of “incels” will continue to rise. This should be viewed as a crisis. Lack of human intimacy leads to depression, anxiety, other disorders. It will burden our economy and health care systems.
I use to use the word incel as an insult. No more. It was a lazy thing to do.

They're full of raw, untamed power that a married, settled-down man wouldn't have. I foresee an army of modern day Sith apprentices under my control. I've been gathering their support on Reddit, and am currently writing a manuscript to widen my appeal to these individuals.

I honestly wholeheartedly agree. Right now, though, it seems, people use "incel" to describe this specific type of an online group of people with shared, severely hindered mindset that's beyond pathetic. Not just those that struggle to find partners, but respond to that in a specific, psychotic way.
Overall, yes, there are lots of people who just struggle to connect with people, and their "involuntary celibate" extends usually into various other social problems. It's normal for people to have problems; some have problems finding partners, others have problems finding a job, others have problem with controlling their emotions. All are completely natural struggles with life, sometimes complicated, sometimes huge.

.....Are.....are you calling me an incel?

Your thought process is illogical, allows for no subtlety, and leaves little room for negotiation. You are dealing in absolutes in a multivariate problem involving human beings. It is lazy.
As I understand it, incel literally means Involuntary Celibate. I.e. people who, through no choice of their own, are unable to have sex with the opposite sex. When did it become an association only for a hate group? I have seen it thrown around so much and so freely. Has there been some new development? You're treating the name as synonymous to terrorism. I'm treating it as a description of a human condition afflicting many people who have no association with any violence.
There was a recent thread by Putinbot, where 25% of American males were not having sex. TWENTY-FIVE. A large number of that would fit the definition of incel (Involuntary celibate). If even half that number were violent terrorists, America would be a goddamn warzone taken straight out of Mad Max. But they're not. They are also not living up their full potential as citizens. This is a problem. It also leads to a variety of medical conditions, as consistent access to human interaction is necessary for a healthy body/mind balance.
I'm curious how much of the female population would qualify as incel. They should do another survey.

The issue requires no subtlety, because attraction is not a negotiation, and incels are lazy:

The premise that their celibacy is involuntary is false. In life, when you choose the behavior, you choose the consequences. By not choosing to make themselves more appealing to the people whom they wish to attract, incels are choosing to not get laid.

When they started murdering people.

Bingo.
To rehash: There are plenty of people both men and women who would like to have sex but don't for one reason or another, this does not make them incels by default. Incel is a specific mindset one takes in for themselves.
