Even weaklings get lucky and knock a stronger, heavier guy off balance on accident - it doesn't mean shit if you can't hurt the opponent.

I was actually referring to him in relation to Jared Padalecki, in response to Jmanghan's post about fighting bigger guys. Hence why I said a teep from a decent-sized guy. Cruise is like 5'7" and probably barely 150lbs. So, below average, actually. And Bieber's opponent's weight and size doesn't change the fact that he doesn't seem to have much technique when it comes to even throwing a punch, never mind anything more complex than that.
Majority of people will find it hard to look good when fighting someone twice their size in such closed confines.
Even trained fighters can look crappy in such a setting. Watch the earlier days of UFC. Many black belts threw punches just as bad when rushed by guys massively outweighing them.

You're taking what I said too literally, and yes, there was, the dude's head snapped to the side and he got knocked off-balance.
See, this is where we are clashing. Maybe it's to do with different life experiences and word interpretations, but when I see the word "damage", I am actually expecting to see visible damage.

Muay Thai is one of the martial arts I've practiced in the past. Had to stop a while ago though, because the gym near me closed down. I miss it. It was an excellent way to keep fit.

I have seen plenty of those fights, but Bieber wasn't being rushed there. It looks like the guy tries to grab Bieber by the neck and then Bieber throws the punch. Though I will admit I can't see the guy's other arm. Maybe there is something going on in between them that we can't see that makes throwing the punch more awkward. So, I will give him that.
But at the end of the day, that's the only notable visible evidence anyone has actually posted in this thread regarding Bieber's fighting ability. If someone can post some footage of him throwing better punches, even in just a sparring match, I will happily re-evaluate my opinion. But until then, I am not impressed.

Bieber isn't trained, so I wasn't expecting a perfect hook. It's not easy for the average joe to throw a decent punch at such close distances. It looks like the guy shoves him in the face and he retaliates with a punch. After that first punch he got rushed, and that was the end of that.
And yeah, it isn't exactly a stellar vid of him fighting but at least it shows him fighting. Do we have any vid at all of Cruise fighting?

I considered competing in some amateur fights myself, but never went through with it. I didn't want to risk ending up with some kind of head injury, even temporarily, that compromised my ability to do my regular job. A friend of mine went on to EFC eventually (the African continent equivalent of UFC), but he didn't do so well there. He started off decently, but then took 5 straight losses in a row, which really knocked his confidence.
Also lol, looks like even the bookies are getting in on the action.
I don't know whether I should be amused or saddened by this.

I honestly haven't bothered looking for Cruise fight vids. Truth be told, I don't know who would actually win between Bieber and Cruise, though my gut says Cruise's old man strength would win out. Another thing to remember is Cruise is actually a tough SOB. He does a lot of his own stunts and stuff and has been battered and injured doing so, and keeps on trucking regardless. So, for example, I think Cruise would be able to handle getting hurt in a fight better than Bieber, if it came to it.
But anyway, my posts have mostly been about Jared Padalecki's comments regarding fighting Bieber (which is why I literally only started posting on this topic once someone brought that up), and, from there, Bieber vs larger guys. Not Bieber vs Cruise.
As I said, Bieber seems to have fairly long, clean limbs for his size. So, there are potential training/strategic directions he could take if he decides to really take this seriously. But, as things stand, gut is going with Cruise. And that seems to be the general consensus online, at least according to the sites I have seen.

Ok, then I don't think we have much to disagree on. The main advantages I was granting Beiber over Cruise was his size and age advantage, both of which would be null against Jared.
Problem I have with people siding with Cruise is that they're doing so based on nothing more than the assumption that since Cruise is an action star who does his own stunts then he must therefore be a better fighter. All the while ignoring the fact that he's way past his prime while Bieber is right at the center of his. That age difference is huge, and it will allow Beiber to get a lot more out of his training than Cruise can.
That said, someone did mention Cruise had a wrestling background which is what I consider a valid point for him (as opposed to someone who said fight choreography is the same as martial arts). So I have since then changed my stance to undecided.

I've had some boxing/kickboxing training. About 4-5 years worth accumulated through the years in various gyms. I got my ass kicked in sparring by a guy who only had 6 months of boxing training from a private coach.
I also have friends who claim to have a martial arts background but who in reality only did. 2 month summer camp in tkd or karate when they were 10.
My point is, simply saying someone has had some boxing training doesn't really mean much. If someone could find a vid of Cruise actually fighting or sparring, or even just training, then that would greatly help.
