No genius, Orion destiny is to battle Darkseid, it was never hinted by Kirby that he would won. We just know they will battle each other.

orions beaten darkseid at least 3 different times that i know of, with each win being credited to the father/son prophecy

I think you're mixing up instances C. The brick thing is canon, it's from his first series. Though it is from the era where he was weakened from being tapped on Earth.

I doubt he was intentionally lying. I recently pointed out that the Surfer/Mexican thing is non-canon, he probably just got confused about who attacked Surfer with the brick.
