I don’t think that’s true, a lot of people that are suffering regularly from racism are also obsessed with race. And of course race is a topic that permeated people’s relations, and is a major topic of discussion in the news anyways.
You're ignoring the context of my post. he was so eager to bring race into the conversation that he was hallucinating "white power" statements.

I think you can be obsessed with race cuz you're racist or cuz you experience a lot of racism.
Just for fun, which do you feel is the more likely reason for a white male leftist to be so obsessed with race he thinks wanting to teach young kids how to interact with cops is like screaming white power: that this person is racist(or, if we're being kind, has a very warped view of what racism is) or that they have personally had to endure tons of racism?

This is a toughy, I feel like it's a trick question though 😱

Anyways, can we all agree that the original narrative here that a peaceful compliant black man was murdered by cops...was a lie?And because I know how some people think: acknowledging it was a lie does not mean you're saying Floyd deserved to die.
Wait, what?
The police were aggressive; Floyd was submissive.
Even through the difficulty of his panicked state, Floyd followed their instructions and did not become violent or obscene and belligerent.
When the police asked him to put his hands on the steering wheel, he put them on the steering wheel.
When the they asked him to put his hands on his head, he put them on his head.
When they asked him to step out of his car, he stepped out of his car.
When they asked him to sit down on the pavement, he sat.
When they asked him for his information, he gave it to them.
As soon as they began the process of handcuffing him, they began yelling "Stop resisting", which seems to have become a phrase cops use to cover their asses and justify their aggression as smartphones and body cameras became more and more common.
Floyd, sobbing, insists he is not resisting, and it's clear he's not. His pleading and nervous movements are not aggressive. He is clearly larger than the arresting officers, and for all that shit people are saying about unnatural strength and explosive power from being high on Fentanyl and experiencing excited delirium, the arresting officers sure did seem to have an especially easy time cuffing him and walking him to the squad car.
When they asked him to step into the squad car, he began to have an anxiety attack and pleaded with them to roll down the windows to put him at greater ease, all the while insisting he is not a threat to them. He even sat himself in the car, before he continued to plead with them to roll down the window and allow him to calm down before fully entering.
They tried to force him in the car instead of trying to calm him, and wound up dragging him out of the car, where shortly after you see Chauvin press his knee on Floyd's neck, even after his repeated claims of having difficulty breathing, killing him within 9 minutes.
Frustrating the police does not justify being killed by them or even getting your ass kicked by them.

Floyd resists several times during the video. Otherwise he would have just been placed in cuffs and then into the cop car and that would have been that if he was fully compliant. Floyd asks to be put on the ground. Floyd claims he can't be put in the car because he is claustrophobic despite just being in a car, Floyd complains about having breathing problems multiple times before he is even on the ground.
This was not the narrative we were sold in the beginning.
No, his death wasn't justified and No he wasn't compliant the entire time.

Agreed. Floyd should not have taken a lethal dose of fentanyl while also being high on meth while also smoking weed while also recently getting over the coronavirus while also having heart disease.
In other words, haha, f*ck your narrative, Surtur.
estahuh
Edit - For those who don't know, I take the position that the 3 cops on Floyd's back are the ones who contributed to Floyd's death (which occurred after he was in medical professionals hands, the police didn't kill him, they contributed to it).

And what happened with the autopsy, I seem to recall the official one said he didn't die of asphyxiation, but then the family had an independent one done and it concluded he did?

Tracheal asphyxia vs. compression asphyxia
There was no tracheal asphyxia but Floyd most certainly went through compression asphyxia with 3 cops on his back.

The autopsy report from Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office concludes the cause of death was "cardiopulmonary arrest complicating law enforcement subdual, restraint, and neck compression." That conclusion, death due to heart failure, differs from the one reached by an independent examiner hired by the Floyd family; that report listed the cause of death as "asphyxiation from sustained pressure."
I'm not buying the notiong of asphyxiation from sustained pressure when Floyd dies in the back of an ambulance with an open airway, in addition to that he had open airways while he was on the ground as well. Now the drugs he was on could certinaly affected the amount of oxygen circulation etc
Doesn't matter, the police were in the wrong. They would have done better to just cuff him to a sign on the curb until an ambulance came.
And to be clear, Floyd said he couldn't breathe from the very get go of the camera footage, it's clear he was in some sort of distress at that time probably again due to ths drugs in his system.
There was no tracheal asphyxia but Floyd most certainly went through compression asphyxia with 3 cops on his back.
Possibly but in the videos the police had the majority of pressure on his neck (which blech is terrible to begin with.)

You're aware that it's possible to resist while being handcuffed or even afterwards, right?

Damn. That video was tragic... Very sad to see and hard to watch.Looks like the cops will all end up getting acquitted to.
I dont know if the one cop will be acquitted of manslaughter, but the murder charges are a different story...
And unless all the cops get convicted of all the charges we will see riots.
