I'll concede, I was playing it up slightly in a disingenuous manner, but the reason his stumbling backwards looked so fake to me was because I was focusing on the cop on the right, who does only push him lightly, as opposed to Colonel Nightstick. It's a shame this man went out of his way to be treated so callously, especially at his age, and with so much violence and unrest already going on.

Good on you. You're alright, Scribbity Scribs. 😍

Just disband all state/city police forces, let the communities do their own policing.

I agree for the city where the majority desire this. However, for those cities that do not desire this, you cannot disband the police as that would punish the majority because of the crimes of the a very small minority (no pun intended, for the love of all that is holy, no pun intended).

Also, I like the idea of private police that you subscribe to. Not fire departments but just police.

https://reason.com/2015/07/21/san-franciscos-private-police/

My younger brother (the one with tons of guns, targets, ammo, and can fix anything) told me how much it costs to become a private police officer that can be hired. You have to take 8 months of training, pass something or another, and get licensed. It's a very similar process to "real" police. Why not expand that to 2 years + a 4 year degree in criminology or criminal psychology? I think that should be required to be a police officer. And you can do patrols in your 3rd and 4th year of the degree program.

In all seriousness, The way I see it you have three main choices

1) disband the police
2) accept it
3) pay for better training and salaries

BTW, what's wrong with community policing?

What is community policing?

Like neighborhood watch + patrolling + citizen's arrest?

Like the McMichael's vs. Arbery?

That would be up to individual communities to decide. it could be anything from neighborhood watches, CIDs, all the way up to private police forces

Yes, I want privatized police with a federal standard on how to get licensed. 🙂

Philly Sheriff:

BILAL: That's the great -- first of all, thank you for having me. That's the great divide. It has been in our culture and its institution for such a long time. As far as those officers, those fifty resigning out of protest, I would say that, "Bye, Felicia," because they SHOULD go. Because if they didn't see anything wrong with that, then they shouldn't have been on the force from the beginning. We are not run by a gestapo group of people in our communities. We cannot have that type of behavior. This has been going on for decades. So at this point now we should be fighting for those who want to be on this job to treat people fairly, and for those who don't, say bye. Get them out of here, because those of us who want to do this job right want them gone anyway.

I lol'd

I think community policing would have trouble with serial killers and psychopaths. They can't totally exclude out the police force.

Serial killers, psychopaths, and meticulously planned murderers spread fear to the local communities. They are harder to apprehend without police assistant and losing a sense of security.

Either it’s the police or the local militia’s that will take charge.

I’ll choose the police as I live in southeastern North Carolina

I was replying to ddm's gif fail.

I wouldn't worry about police being disbanded. not gonna happen

I know it’s just funny hearing the crying concerning it.

Almost feel like they need to be put over the shoulder and burped

Her argument can easily be turned back on herself though.

The people leaving in protest are to blame, because they didn't notice anything wrong before? What about yourself, Sheriff?? Are you only just getting around to noticing there's a problem with the police? What have all you "good people" who want the system to work been doing all this time?

often people need a moment when they can speak out. Lone voices often go unheard and indeed nobody wants to be seen as a problem themselves.

Ahh, makes sense, now.

It shows up on my screen just fine. But it is probably pulling it from the cache.

This was the gif I posted in response to PVS' post (I re-uploaded the gif and so it would give me a different imgur link).
