Yes, probably because many Americans are so superstitious that black cats are bad luck. One of my 3 cats is actually black... a male. The only tomcat I have. He is also by far the most annoying of all 3 of them... constantly whining about something or another. The two females are much quieter.
All 3 of them are picky about what food they eat though. That's one thing better about dogs. They are much easier to satisfy when it comes to eating. I've wasted lots of money trying to find the right food (both dry and canned) that all of my cats like.
Then of course you also have to experiment with different cat litters till you find one that both you and your cats like.
On top of all that, when you throw in all of the money I've also wasted on trying to find the right cat toys that makes them happy I've probably spent around over a thousand dollars minimum over the past year on them. That's not counting veterinarian visits either.

F you Surt, we get about 3 weeks of warm weather here (and it's never consecutive), drinking in the hot weather over here is like being on a free holiday. Minus the price of the drinks of course.

From my experience male cats in general are more annoying than female cats.
Also I was reading that aside from the black cats are bad luck BS, one of the reasons people don’t adopt black cats as much is because they don’t look good in selfies. They’re harder to photograph well because of their color so people don’t want them.
I don't think I've ever once taken a selfie with any of my cats. As a matter of fact, I don't think I've ever taken a selfie period lol. Just seems like a stupid reason to not adopt a black cat to me.
Also, I once read a book that black cats are really only considered bad luck by so many people in North America. Over in Europe many actually consider them to be good luck. From what I've read the superstition they are bad luck stems from the time when so many women were accused of being witches and had black cats as familiars or something. Pretty silly.
