No, what I sound like is a true progressive. You do not know that, because you do not actually know any. You think the caricature of progressives you see and hear on the Internet is real life.

Is it? Because the center-to-right members here do not even believe transgender identities are valid. So tell me more about how they are proponents of transgender equality. Particularly, when there is a thread in this forum dedicated to the subject of prohibiting transgender people from doing what they wish with their own bodies.

Most (all, probably) centre people have no issues with transgenderism.
I don't see no threads that offend me, as a transgender human person. Where is this thread, and why does it oppress me so?
That post make me remember this gem, which I laughed at in all its pearl-clutching slippery-slope nonsense.

*looks around, see's a world where drag queens are reading books to children and grown ass adults are allowed to mutilate themselves and call themselves a different gender. See's a world where some children are emotionally abused and encouraged to choose a gender at a young age. See's a world where children are allowed to dress up as drag queens and perform at a strip club*Lol remember during the battle for gay marriage when they said it would stop there, it wouldn't go beyond that?
Surtur remembers.

Yeah, a lot of that stuff is actual social commentary.Wasn't there some odd sexualized kids in fetish outfits? I didn't follow too closely, but thought I saw "leather slave" kink in there.

Has nothing to do with same-sex marriage.
In a sense, I can kind of see the point he's trying to make.
Gay Marriage was essentially what got the public receptive to lgbtq, because its something anyone can sympathize with.
I mean, before gay marriage won the culture wars, can you even imagine "child drag queen" being a mainstream question? Shown on CNN and everything
The fact we can talk about this now, and treat it like a serious question of debate, is all thanks to the efforts of that initial drive for marriage equality.
Some might say perhaps we've gone from acceptance, to a step too far towards "perceived homophobia phobia".
I just made up that right now. Its when someones so scared of being labled intolerant, they're afraid to draw a line in the sand on anything remotely related to the topic. Like child drag queens.

I feel like I missed some event. So I read back and it seems like Bashar is being portrayed as an anti-transgender person and Surt's the transgender community champion? Which is hilarious as Surt has a history of having a barely hidden resentment of transgender people on KMC. Granted, Surt really might not feel this way and it's just been attention seeking behavior all along.
Hell, DDM even called him ou on his behavior before.

I do not have any sympathy for members of the LGBTQ community who self-harm because of bullying, period.
Well, at least you're not a liar and a hypocrite and you readily admit to your pro-bullying, anti-LGBT position.
FYI: I also include suicide in self-harm as it is the ultimate self-harming outcome.
Why not, Adam?
Do you feel that way about people who self harm in general?
Never wanted to do that to myself, but I do know having real trouble dealing with emotions is a real thing some people have trouble with.
I mean, who would choose to cut themselves? Or otherwise harm themselves? No one WANTS to do that kind of thing.
Originally posted by cdtmDisagree, I think self harm for some waa a fashion at one point and spiked because of this, not true for everyone, but people are influenced by what they see as normal etc.

There may be genetic reasons people self-harm.

In other words, some people are just born that way. So to mock and bully someone for being part of the LGBT community, that's bullying. Self-harming including suicide is just "how they were born" most likely.
It's easier to just follow Bill and Ted's mantra: Be Excellent to Each Other.
