At least DBS abruptly gave Piccolo God tier power with no explanation. That's a lot more than you can say about any other non-Saiyan.

Like you said, at least he had an actual character arc. Vegeta more seemed to just give up on beating Goku, and became a whipped husband/father.

I wanted more for Piccolo though. Both father and son hit their peaks at the Cell saga. Piccolo’s last best fight was against 17, while Gohan’s was against Cell.

In the Buu saga, Piccolo was a babysitter. While Gohan gained Mystic, his Saiyan pride took over and got absorbed by Buu.

I’ve watched pieces here and there of Super, but I honestly couldn’t get into it.

My gripe with Vegeta is still him killing hundred of innocents just to have a fight with Goku, and his forgiven. Piccolo never once killed anyone, if I’m remembering correctly.

While my gripe with Goku, was to allow his saiyan blood to boil and give Vegeta that fight, and in extent, resurrecting Majin Buu.
