If we're just talking about DBS Broly, then no, his massive potential was never really explained. The only thing we have to go by is King Vegeta saying that he was a "mutant" among the Saiyans or w/e.

But in the movie he most definitely kept getting stronger as he fought. Over the course of like 2 hours he went from being weaker than base Vegeta, to requiring SSB Gogeta's most powerful attack just to put him down.

All Saiyans do that, technically.

are on the fly powerups like this a new thing in dbs?

i remember the old boosts in dbz, but those required life threatening injuries to take effect. not just..... fighting.

It's definitely way more pronounced in DBS.

Saiyan zenkai boosts were obviously a thing in Z, but as you mentioned: it generally required life-threatening injuries for their powers to increase. Aside from that, their max power was their max power, and they couldn't really transcend that(unless they trained extensively, and/or unlocked a new transformation mid-battle, obvs.)

But in DBS, the Saiyans can powerup to their 'max', and if they are fighting a strong enough opponent, the "Saiyan evolution" gimmick kicks in, and their power will continue to [massively] increase on a minute-by-minute basis... They basically no longer have a ceiling/plateau.

Minute by minute?

So opponents who fight in shorter timeframes (mmm picoseconds??) could potentially defeat them before they ever power up enough???

It really just seems to be a perpetual increase throughout the entire fight, tbh.

In the scan Stilt posted, for example, Vegeta went from being far weaker than Granolah, to damn near his equal, over the course of "a few minutes", because his power was constantly increasing during that time.

DS is still hoping that Kryptonians or Flashes stand a chance here 😍

Is Granolah also a sayan?

Good post 👆

It's not a new thing per se, no...

... however, I think we can all agree that it's been taken a whole new level in Super... the further we got in the story, the more evident it became.

So minutes 👆

That's like lifetimes to a Flash/Superman

Good thing that KMC Superman experts agreed it would take just a Namek Saga Goku to handle him, then 👆

It's a perpetual/constant increase while they are fighting.

Vegeta was just saying that the powerlevel he had a few minutes prior was now irrelevant, because he became vastly more powerful in that time.

Don't you want to be like Galan, Phil and Abhi, DS?

Read the manga from the beginning or watch the anime... you may even skip Super and GT.

You know you'll love it.

Because right now, you only want to molest Carver in this thread. Which is always fun, of course, but imagine how much you could molest him if you became a true DB fan.

DS would love the DBZ anime. He's just too lazy to watch it. 👇

Lol... minutes is a lifetime to kid Goku. It's just that powering up from a God to a God plus, plus in minutes is a freaking beastly showing. Imagine being able to Crack a universe with your fist and then minutes later, you're multi universal. This is how big of a power up we are talking here. Vegeta was nothing to Toppo, and moments later he was able to fight H2H and even defeat God level Toppo who had powered up by multitudes. A blast from Vegeta or Goku, even in base form would end 95% of the JLA and Avengers crucial fights.

watch dbz abridged, DS

better than original

I wonder why no one mentioned Goku and Jiren enduring an attack that Grand Priest shielded Zeno from. The same Zeno that shrugs off Universal explosions.
