But, even in canon material, Namekian saga Frieza was called a Universal threat/destroyer. Even King Kai told Goku to avoid Frieza at all cost because pissing him off could be the end of the Universe.
...Which, again, just boils back down to this:

IOW, that recap is logically just referring to the effects that Freeza and his cumulative Empire might've eventually had on the universe if Goku/Trunks never beat him.
ie. If Freeza was granted immortality by the Dragon, then set his sights on wiping out the universe either literally or figuratively(ie. just exterminating all life), he might be able to do it... Eventually. But I mean, even if you tremendously high-ball Freeza and put him at star-busting levels back then(which there is no canon evidence to support, mind you) destroying the entire universe would still take him EONS. He certainly isn't doing it in one shot.

Yeah, considering how much debate we have with ENGLISH comics (Surfer 'cleaving' to a ship as an example), reliance on translations is obviously wrong, especially when context and personal bias can often creep in.
Maybe, maybe not - I have no idea until I can read the original Japanese and see what the English translations say. They could be accurate 60%, 80%, 99% of the time.
But the example Carver posted is a particularly egregious example. The two scans have two completely different points. I also remember a scan with Flashy Flash from OPM being used, and it was a fan edit.
Again, considering how much we all (and yes, myself included) ***** about English comics lol, English translations from original Japanese just adds an additional layer where bias and misinterpretation can enter.
Originally posted by DeadpoolXXXTo an extent, maybe. Because then Freeza's Golden form, which is high-end SSB-tier, would at least be in the discussion.

Originally posted by DarkSaint85Where DB(and a lot of manga in general) is concerned, only Viz translations should be usable, imo. They're at least an official manga publisher, and widely considered to be very accurate with their translations -- no telling where some of the other scanlations even come from.

And although Viz has made subtle translation errors in the past, they are usually caught/updated very quickly.
Originally posted by DeadpoolXXXCurrent manga scaling has MUI Goku, UE Vegeta, Beast Gohan, and SS Broly(controlled) all in the same general tier of power. Black Freeza is leagues above them, and Beerus is still above Black Freeza.
also- what tier do you guys have broly and gohan beast in? above or below goku? above or below frieza? above or below beerus?
Originally posted by Galan007do you think if all the saiyans teamed up they'd be able to beat black frieza?

and what about all of the saiyans and frieza black vs beerus?
Originally posted by DarkSaint85😂 ya that doesn't make sense to me. why wouldn't the english dub have just stuck to 8,000?
Also, learning that the 'its over 9000!' translation being an English only thing makes me lol.

Precisely because of my point lol. Some translator somewhere along the line thought it sounded better/cooler. Or just made a mistake.
And then, eventually down the line, it gets accepted, when the canon original (and other translations) all say 8,000. Imagine if abhi translated Superman comics, for example.

Nope, they are not beating Frieza. Team ups in DB doesn't translate to winning. It's all about power. The only time I've seen teamups mentioned as relevance in DB was against Frieza, but all of them were roughly around the same power.
Correction - *was against Golden Frieza..

UI Goku + UE Vegeta + Granolah(who was also on their level) couldn't even defeat Gas... Then Black Freeza showed up and killed Gas with no effort, right before casually one-shotting Goku + Vegeta. So adding another, similarly powerful, character wouldn't change the outcome at all. Freeza is simply too far above them for numbers to matter.

V-Jump confirmed that Black Freeza is just "close to" a God of Destruction's power(meaning that Beerus is still more powerful) -- HOW close is the only question. After all, those types of comparative statements regarding other characters supposedly approaching/surpassing Beerus have been made before, and turned out to be very wrong. Beerus is just on a ridiculously OP sliding-scale that is all his own. It doesn't make sense(even by DB standards), but it is what it is.
That said, I'd like to *think* that Black Freeza could at least put up a great fight, but at this point I also wouldn't be surprised if Beerus just waltzed up and no-diff'd him. /shrug

Originally posted by carver9Hopefully Piccolo was just pretending that he couldn't speak Namekian because he doesn't trust Neva and wants to keep him close by. Otherwise it makes no sense.
Why did Piccolo in DragonBall Daima say he can't speak namekian when in regular DragonBall, him and Kami had an entire conversation at super speed using Namekian language. It seems that someone isn't aware of this.
Aside from the fact that Piccolo has spoken Namekian in the past, he's also fused with TWO other beings who also knew the language.
