An untrained base Goku is so far above those thugs, the only way he gets hurt is by being careless.

That's a weakness. Carelessness is a weakness.

That weakness cost him against Golden Freeza. It almost cost him everything against Piccolo.

Smart comic book characters can turn one moment of carelessness into victory.
