Mass Effect - Legendary Edition

11 gb! 😱

That's worse then Destiny updates. If they're frequent and of comparable size, that would be a problem.

11GB is nothing anymore. It's a first day patch...probably the biggest its going to be.

11gb patches is nothing in general honestly by modern standards. In 2009 a 500mb patch for a 10gb game was pretty standard. With games reaching into the 100gb territory on the regular now a ~10gb patch shouldn't be too surprising.

Under two weeks left. Have to say, even though I plan to wait until the end of the month to play it, the hype is starting to rise.

I'm going to wait until I finish Resident Evil Village....assuming that game is good.
Once done, I will probably get this for the summer. Alot of gaming to be had.

I purposefully held off playing this series hoping there would be a remastered and etc. I think I played it last time in 2014ish...

That's a good stretch of time, you should be grand. The last time I played the series (1 and 2 at least) was last summer. I'm hoping the changes, while not too extreme, still make it feel fresh enough that I don't get burned out.

Honestly, I could care less if they make sweeping changes.
Mass Effect was fun to play (especially the last two games)..but it was always about the characters and story for me. The gameplay was secondary.

In fact, I was hoping they make crazy changes to the planet hopping in the first game...and re-do most of the bland structures you visit during side missions. I was also hoping they make changes to the planet scanning in the second but that was boring as **** after 20 minutes.

Completely agreed, Smas. The more changes to gameplay and level design in the first ME the better, imo. That game has so many issues in those areas when compared to the other two games.

Like they did with Final Fantasy 7 remake? And look how that turned out, a complete shit show.

No it ****ing wasn't. FF7R was arguably game of the year.

😇 I meant Resident Evil 3.

In some cases, I'm OK if they keep the game very similar. For instance, if they ever remake Dead Space...I do not think there is anything they should change aside from making the asteroid section easier and well less annoying. Seeing Dead Space with ray tracing and etc could be a fantastic experience.

Mass Effect though...whatever...the gameplay was always the second fiddle to the characters and story. Make as many changes as they want.

Because there is always the originals that can be played. I assume they will still sell them.

This came up in another thread, but things like the lighting and the sound design are part of the gameplay too. I, personally, don't want them changed. I mean, sure, you can improve the quality of the lighting, but if they completely remove that weird, hazy lens-flareyness of the first one, I think that would be a net negative.

And "you can just play the old one" isn't as easy if you don't have a pc, to be fair.

Ugh, I just remembered that all three of the originals came out on PS3/360. Damn, time flies.

Better, but not by much.

I've got this preloaded. Can't wait to experience the trilogy again! I haven't played since 360.

To be fair....it's a bit more annoying to play Mass Effect on Playstation because I don't think they ported them over. For Xbox, they are part of backwards compatibility and you can get them through Game Pass, MS Store or EA Play.

That being said, I'm not sure there is any reason why you would get this. It seems you just want to play the originals again...or just get up an up-rezzed version of them with all their annoying defects.

But if they just released an up-rezzed version...then people would be pissed if they didn't improve it.

Oh okay, i genuinely didn't know about the game pass/ms store thing. My bad on that one.

It's not that. I don't mind improvements. I just feel like what you would call an improvement isn't the same thing I would. Doesn't mean I'm saying you're wrong, mind you. I just don't think I'm wrong either. It's all personal preference.

What? RE3 was a pretty big disappointment.

And I forgot PS4 doesn't have them.

Then what you improve with Mass Effect? If its not the graphics or gameplay...what else is there?

I fear I misspoke or wasn't clear.

I do want the graphics improved. Very much so. I just want to make sure the visual style/atmosphere remains consistent. I'm expecting it will, but until I see it for sure I'm not going to assume and get my hopes up. Some of the screenshots haven't exactly been convincing to me.

I want the gameplay improved. I want the Mako to handle better (it will), and the inventory to be improved (it will). I want them to fix the ****ton of gameplay bugs the original trilogy had, and if they have gotten the trickier ones remains to be seen.

I just don't consider making the combat more like 2 and 3 an improvement. I'm not going to say it's shit because they changed it, I just feel like they could have done other things with their time, like refine the Paragon and Renegade systems in the three games and not have to make people cheese shit to get the results they wanted. At this point I'm just hoping that the skill tree rejig has actual, tangible improvements. Sure, they said they will, but again, I'm waiting and seeing.

At the very least, I'm assuming they at least fixed the absolute abysmal issues ME1 had on pc with running on multi-core systems and accessing enough ram to run smoothly.
