TBF, they're not wrong about that part. They're still criminals though.

It doesn't work if one of the clauses is subordinate.

Nobody else wanted the job.

well the pay sucks, there's no benefits, no pto, no 401k, and it's a thankless job.

It's been surreal re-living the Jan 6 stuff during these hearings...

Just the sheer brazen and shameless gall with which Trump displayed his narcissism. It has became even more obvious that Trump was getting an ego boner as his cult followers wreaked havoc on the Capitol building, especially given that they were there because he told them to show up. I mean, seeing all the MAGA hats and flags was clearly fuel for his ego after being defeated in the election that wasn't even close. Of course his narcissism and cognitive dissonance was convinced that he was cheated.

So clearly that's why he begrudgingly gave a much-delayed statement for his wonderful followers to go home.

Also, I had almost forgotten about him saying to stop counting votes when the red mirage started disappearing. Jesus Christ.

I don't think Trump actually believes he was cheated, he just can't accept defeat and will win by any means necessary, even literally cheating and committing crimes.

There's also far less money to be made in going "Alright, I gave it my best, but we lost", than crying that the election was stolen and that he need lots of money to fight the "evil Dems" and set things right. Rightist love being told that they're victims, it sets them to task. Look at his 'Save America Fund', he's been skimming from that and it has raised over 120million, and still climbing.

It's hard to know his actual thought patterns, but I think on some level his ego has convinced himself that he was cheated. I think it's how narcicists operate. Remember George from Seinfeld... "It's not a lie if YOU believe it." haha.

But you're not wrong. He's definitely taking advantage and gifting off of it. Yeah, they brought up his Save America Fund again. It's a truly astonishing time we live in, isn't it?

Trump always turns every loss into a win. He's making money on losing the election and it was pretty close, let's be honest. He only needed to flip AZ, GA, WI and Penn.

that's why I had to turn it off eventually. it was traumatic for every patriotic american without all the details. benefit of reliving it for as long as I could: unavoidable clarity. now it's objectively undeniable that fascists were organized and mobilized to overthrow the government and murder our freely elected officials (including the vice president, on trump's implied command). it was just royally f*cked to finally see the timeline of events, and I had already seen quite enough. cult45 is probably calling it a deep fake or some retard shit like that. get ready for a huge trumpanzee chimp-out when Dear Leader is arrested

Is that all?

You're not factoring in that AZ and GA where/are Red states, those two should have been nigh effortless wins for any Republican. But four years of gross mismanagement and a botched from day one handling of a pandemic ruined him.

Despite everything's that's come forward, people knew back in Jan of 2021 that the Jan 6th attack wasn't some spur of the moment thing that got out of control, that instead it was carefully planned a month+ back. So I still believe nothing's going to happen to Trump, people around him might be fined or go to jail, but not el dorito. I hope you're right, I just have no faith it will happen.

Whirly even called it out in December, nearly a month to the day it happened and the usual Tumpers downplayed it.

I think Trump coup is going to have an impact as the GOP have pretty much backed him. People are not going to like that.

I have to say I enjoy the superiority I have over those who think this is a coup.

Arrested, no. I don't see that happening. But hopefully barred from running for office again.

I just wonder what kind of unrest that would stir up if he actually gets disqualified from office.

To formally charge Trump with a crime that bars him ever running again and convicting him will require the GOP to be on board. They won't be, at least not enough of them.

The majority of the GOP still publicly supports the lie that Trump was cheated. The Jan 6th hearings will not change that, they're still pretending nothing much happened and Trump is the victim of a witch hunt. Privately, I'm sure most of them acknowledge Trump wasn't cheated and that Jan 6th was a legitimate threat, but they're either putting party before country again and/or scared of Trump's cult.

Sad but true.

The Jan 6 hearings are ****ing dynamite.

I think Trump may have to be arrested.

I agree, except I've tried to watch today's hearing and I've found it a bit too dry. I grant that it's certainly important. The delivery is just very sleep-inducing. 😴

^ okay, I take some of that back. It's gotten much more interesting closer to the end, about the call Trump made to Pence and Pence refusing to flee the premises. As much as I disagree with Pence and despise his desire for Theocratic ideals, I think he actually probably is a legitimate person and it's admirable the way he stood fast and did what was right. Fu#kin' unreal.

Dunno man, he did what other Vice Presidents did, his job. Granted, not sure other Vice Presidents had their President threatening to send a murder-mob after them if they did their job.

The DOJ has reported that one of their informants has said the Proud Boys intended to murder Pence and Pelosi that day. Which as crazy as it sounds, is likely true.
