Didn't Labour win back Wakefield?

The only reason JC is still technically a member is because the NEC reinstated him, so Starmer couldnt do anything about it:

But Starmer had pretty much made clear (with any excuse possible) that JC wont run as a Labour MP again:

Slimy evil s*** that Keir Starmer. But hey the Tories were partying during Covid so we all better vote that other evil schmuck in.

They can't have a Labour candidate run against him if his Labour team don't register a candidate against him.

Either way he will run as an independent.

Again this is all semantics. He wont be running as a Labour MP. Starmer refuses to restore his whip.

If up to Starmer he will have a Labour representative running against JC.

Heck if it was up to Starmer then JC would not even be a Labour member anymore.

So I dont get what you are arguing here. My point is JC had Starmer in his Shadow Cabinet, for the sake of keeping the Left and the Centre of the party together.

Then Starmer ran on the mantra “we must bring the party together” then became leader (by fooling the membership) and removed JC the moment he found an excuse.

What is your argument here? Are you really arguing hes still a legit Labour MP? Because hes not. And frankly he should resign from the party like Rory Stewart did when his whip was removed by Boris Johnson.

The difference is JC is Labour to the core and has decided to keep hope that he will be given his whip back before the next GE.

Why.

Do you know and do you understand all the reasons why Wakefield rejected the Labour candidate on the ballot on Thursday 12 December 2019.

Also do you know and understand all the reasons why Wakefield accepted the Labour candidate on the ballot on 23 June 2022 (30 Days ago)

If the answer to both of these questions is no.

Then I guess you could read up on it.

Wakefield 2019 is Live Action example of a Plot Twist.

Wakefield 2022 completes the saga.

Wakefield is a constituency created in 1832, represented by Simon Lightwood of the Labour Party since 2022. Wikipedia
Member of Parliament: Simon Lightwood (Labour)

Sunak trying to play the underdog now? 😆

I'll see how the situation develops. The local paper has a direct line to the office of JC (Independent) member of the Labour Party and that is the primary paper I will be reading to check up on weekly.

I'll also be keeping an eye on what the unions on the NEC (who reinstated his membership) have to say... (Unison, Unite, GMB, ASLEF and TSSA (Corbyn fights hard for Rail Workers, They're going on strike now because neither Starmer or Boris Johnson and his Government are doing anything for them)

If I hear it from a union on the NEC or direct from the local constituency office then I'll believe it.

Sure Starmer may say what he's saying but I want to hear what the unions have to say about it. If they really are going to fund some one else to run against their champion for 40 years.

All the polls show he will get destroyed. He will have to really show her up in the next debate to even stand a chance.

Yeah Unions always favoured JC. They're not impressed with Starmer.

So I was right to back Liz.

Okay, I'll just state my opinion.

IMO, Liz Truss looks like the most sensible candidate, but is too much associated with Boris' cabinet despite only recently joining. Sunak is clearly the front runner, but is criticised by Rees-Mogg for being a socialist and despite his popularity, really won't hold well for the public. Honestly, he looks and sounds like Ed Miliband with a tan and a blue tie. Did he remind you he's a conservative? Anyway, Badenock is an exciting true conservative outsider and is very popular with the normies, but even her own party is trying to oust her out and unfortunately, young outsiders can be pretty risky, still love her though. I'm not going to acknowledge the other guy because he's "literally who" so Penny Mordaunt. I don't know what to say about her other than her being a distraction. She's young and physically attractive, but doesn't quite cut it as a leader. She deserves to be where she is as a Brexiteer, but her initial hype is already waning, as is Sunak's.

If the final two are between Sunak and Mordaunt, I think Labour will win the next election with a miserable plurality and no real control.

Truss could possibly lead the party to another electoral victory, but would still have a lot of work to do. It feels like the conservatives are trying their best to get a scapegoat candidate for Starmer to govern miserably.

This was a few weeks ago. 😂

Forgive my grammar mistakes. 😂

I don't see her beating Starmer.

Rishi has hands down beaten her in all the debates (going by polling, not just my own opinion). I have little doubt he will win the 1 on 1 debate as well.

But the members don't care about that. To them he betrayed Boris and that's that.

Debate tonight.

Do the debates change anything here? Cos it seems like the Tories have already chosen.

Would it matter if the views of the people/polls changed after the debates?

Its a chance to change the Members minds. I just enjoy them anyway. But yeah looks like Truss has it in the bag.

Is Truss going to be another Boris-like shitshow?

I doubt she'll be getting oral sex in her parliamentary office from someone that isn't her husband then trying to get that person a six figure salary job in the civil service.

She is as utterly useless as he is though.

I see; sorry to hear that. Thanks 👆

Unlike certain American posters here, or former/now lurking, I don't get happy and cheer when the UK goes to shit.

I mean her main “selling point” is a tax cut for the rich.

Boris at least had the appeal of being a joker. Truss doesnt have any appeal as far as I can tell.

And then if you see her in a debate she gets stuck with her words a lot.

Given all that shed be Good news for Labour fans as Starmer will destroy her.

It always makes me laugh this leader stuff in terms of uk politics. I could never vote Tory, to me their ideas are simply evil and disgusting, Labour could run a donkey as leader and I'd vote for it. The ideals of Labour are simply better and fairer.

I get Tory “values” are more likely to attract shit Whirly.

But just as Tory loyalists hate Sunak for back stabbing Boris, similarly I hate Starmer for what hes done to JC.

But Muslims traditionally are loyal Labour voters. Even after the Iraq war !
